When people refer to a game lagging because of triggers do they mean lag as in delay for triggers or framerate reduction? Because in my map I have a bunch of dialogs moving around and delay is fine but if its going to reduce framerates then its not okay. And about 10 will move each second.
Depends entirely on the topic. Things like WASD movement are "broken" due to delay, triggered sounds just simply kill performance. Whether a lot of moving dialogs kills performance, I don't know, test it, have people with bad comps test it, and see.
If you're doing things like checking for keyboard input or mouse tracking it will most likely cause some delay depending on how extensively you rely on those functions.
Common causes for reduced performance are sound triggers (as Almaity said,) lots of units on the map at once, wide Field of View settings for player cameras (or any camera setting that forces the player to render a large proportion of the game world at once,) and a large number of behaviors on many units, especially search behaviors.
