I have problems that it is very grindy... Even when carried to high levels like level 28 exp is still earned at a snail rate. Leveling from 1-30 (max level last I checked) takes the same time that levelling from 1-70 and to paragon 500+ in Diablo III.
Disagreed, there is a bunch of tricks that can make the boss much easier.
Still does not make it any less unpolished. You should focus on the core gameplay rather than adding in completely different and unrelated game play.
Don't fly away from the boss while he is shooting at you.
And that is the problem! I do not know when it is shooting at me because it has impossible turning and turns to me behind my back where I cannot see it and when I am forced to fly away from it due to a combination of excessive additional enemies firing upon me and needing to gain some distance for another strafing run. I then get hit by 4-5 of its mega blasts which remove most of my health. Sometimes It does not even aim at me, I am hit from behind by it shooting at someone else while I am gaining distance.
Would be nice if there was a repair pack spawner of sorts, similar to other boss rooms. One could then do away with the landing full repair of the first part of the mission.
I would try to position your tank better.
What tank? You mean the other two players who dropped some time ago who did not take a tank character? Or maybe I should go tank at level 1 as I have not got around to levelling up alternative characters for now.
Your map has major problems with player retention on the US servers. Half of the games lose half the players before the first mission is even done. For example two guys ran into a flame trap, died and then almost immediatly dropped before I got to them to revive them.
The game has quite a steep learning curve. Maybe for characters below level 5 some interactive tips could be displayed? For example if you die it says "you have died, however an ally can revive you by interacting with your tombstone". Like wise if an ally dies "an ally has died, you can resurrect them by interacting with their tombstone". Would also be nice to mention that space bar has character unique functionality as well as emphasize the existence of qef abilities as some people are overlooking them.
There is a bug with the first mission boss fight. If you do not fully clear out the previous bonus area then infested terrans can shoot you through the boss room walls where they cannot be easily killed. I was snipped once this way on a Heroic 10 run. I recommend pausing all non-boss units while inside the boss room and unpausing them if the boss room fails.
I strongly recommend revising/removing the space ship battle mission. It feels very unpolished compared with the other missions.
During the first part of the mission one can constantly dock and undock to full heal, making it very easy. During the boss battle of the mission one cannot full heal making it insanely hard. There is no minimap. Camera Z cutoff means that you can end up left inside a black void devoid of any discernible features and completely disorientating. Flying against the edges of the arena results in a sudden and uncontrolled flip that is completely disorientating and will more often than not get you hit. Most hits you take will come from behind as when flying away from the boss you cannot see who it is shooting at and how it is facing. The number of missiles flying during the first part at any given time is such that game performance (frame rate) is more often than not a problem. The bosses look visually unpolished as they are missive ships yet can near instantly turn 180 to lock onto the player. Let us not forget that the mechanics themselves are out of place as all your experience grinding, gear grinding, class abilites etc seem to be worth nothing as you are in space ship for the entirety of the mission.
If you must keep the space ships then consider making them control the same as heroes with a top down view, cursor target attack and wasd movement. This would feel much more in place and fix most of the issues without needing to change the mission too much.
Otherwise consider changing it so that you shoot stuff on foot or in turrets from the space platform. This way your gear and levels come into effect. However this might make the mission too generic.
The one zealot boss who is potentially a playable character (forget his name) has a seemingly undogeable attack for most classes making it impossible to do with less than 3 players. Specifically when he charges at you his movement speed is faster than most characters without a sprint and he cannot be knocked back either so he is guaranteed to land at least 1 melee hit on you. For most classes on heoric, especially ranged DPS, a single melee hit of his knocks off a good amount of life. This is based on observations at Heroic 1 (lowest heroic mode) and a level 11 hero with appropriately levelled gear (not that low level). Obviously at level 30 with level 30 gear he is likely no problem at Heroic 1 however one should not be doing him at just Heroic 1 then...
The first mission can be exploited to get reasonably high levelled gear at a low level. Due to the nature of the mission and type of mobs encountered it is very easy to run it at Heroic 10 (max difficulty) with characters around level 5 to get level requirement 17-18 items. It does not even take that long to do if one has the right balance of heroes (constant double damage debuff on boss).
It is possible to bug your hero into a state he can only move around but not do any other actions. In such a state when trying to do actions like fire, use abilities or sprint it throws an action not allowed at this time message. A far from optimal solution to this bug is to suicide and then get revived, allowing your hero to work as intended however this will negatively impact your ratting.
Had this bug happen as AK-47 (the warhound like hero). Not sure what triggered it but I suddenly found myself unable to do anything but the most basic moving around.
It hangs on 99% for a while but is not stuck. One just needs to wait a minute or so and it eventually finishes downloading. I am guessing it just says 99% but in reality it is still downloading at a much lower actual percentage.
It seems really hard to get a full house lobby with this arcade game.
Gameplay wise it would be nice if beginners were introduced to the more advanced mechanics like limited ammo and oxygen and such without having to up the difficulty. This would make progression into higher difficulties more natural.
The ship parts have dubious controls at best. It is a real pain to fight anything as you are always nose diving into the enemy fire and have to make strafing runs against tougher enemies. There also is no intuitive way to heal next to landing and taking off, which does not work once the landing pad is destroyed.
When in top down shooter mode it would be nice if the camera angle or distance could be adjusted. When fighting bosses in big arenas it is very hard to evade their attacks when to the north of them as the camera angle of approach gives you less distance to see them than when fighting to the south of the. The result is basically an un-dogeable hail of projectiles coming from somewhere you are not even sure of if not for the minimap.
Better explanation as to the stat mechanics would be useful. I am not sure what stats I should be piling or focusing on other than the general "more is better".
The "do not vote spam" message remains forever on screen until another person starts a vote. This is very annoying.
