It might be useful to note that "multithreading" is a misnomer in the Starcraft 2 sense. There is no way to actually create a thread.
SC2 just creates the "illusion" of a thread. In all likelihood, there's just a trigger Thread Pool, or maybe just a single-threaded implementation switching contexts a lot.
In any case, this severely limits the usefulness of it (not entirely!) and makes enforcing critical sections significantly less important.
