actually I was going to make a hold out mission like the "Zero Hour" campaign mission but it would be the Dominion holding out vs the rebels or something. I really just liked the whole defend the base or be overrun idea. The terrain can't be overly complex as I need to keep things like lag down as I may end up using it for something.
O nice thanks. I am having a very hard time making a slightly less than mini project of my own. It's going alright but I'm quickly running out of ideas.
Well I have been reworking the left side of the fence a bit and it looks better. Doing that also made it a bit larger so there is more room to work with. I also added quite a few things outside the base. It's pretty self explanatory what I did really. I hope it's getting to the point where it actually is starting to look at least slightly impressive. I messed with the lighting and I like where it ended up better now. The darkness also hides some of the texture dilemmas which I did fix much of.
hehehe look at the billboard in the 2nd last pic, just noticed that, lol. That's also my favorite pic out of the lot. It's hard to get good angles of a circular base but I tried.
I'll not take up any more of your time tonight. We are all busy doing our own things right?
thanks Mozared. This is what happens when you have a few hours to burn at your house and you don't feel like playing Marine Arena. Of course I can work on the texture and add a few things but overall, it looks as good as the first campaign mission at least to me. It still needs that final "professional touch" if you will to put it over the edge. I'm just looking for the best method to get it. It kinda sucks to learn that you never liked any of my work until now, but then again, it's to be expected. This is actually my first somewhat preplanned project that actually worked out. I'm probably going to add other stuff too. Do you have any ideas on what would put it over the edge? You still don't seem to be blown away... O well I really don't care. I went from a 32/32 square to a small Dominion base. At least I impressed myself :)
Part of the reason you haven't seen too much of my work is that I found this great new game called "World of Tanks." If you're at all into war and third person games, serously check it out. It isn't army vs army though. It's 14 player controlled tanks vs 14 player controlled tanks.
Check out the vid if you want to see a bit of it.
Anyway I'm going to do some renovations and additions to this before I post anything else. It's up to 40/40 now and It's going to get bigger. I hope it will turn into an RPG or mission or something with the help of trigger people later. But for now it's going to get better looking.
I did fix that and I'm slowly expanding the size of the map as well. I hope it ends up looking like a decent potential scenario with help from someone who knows triggers and stuff.
how about now? I added some sandbags as well as those cracks and stuff you mentioned. I am really really liking it now. I actually had a "holy crap I built that?!?" moment just now looking at my handiwork.
If someone wants to use this for something as lo\ng as I get credit I don't really care :) just ask and I'll see what I can do.
I probably went a little overkill on crates and barrels, but I like how they can be used pretty much anywhere as boring space fillers. If anyone knows why my ground decals disappear sometimes, please tell me. Any better? Lol... after all that I forgot to change the symbol on the units. The last pic is with the dominion symbol instead.
that kinda reminds me of when Anakin nearly dies to Obi Wan! It looks pretty good to me. I'll zoom the camera out so hopefully I get a skybox although I'm not too sure how to add one in a game though.
The Island looks pretty good as well. I can't find anything obviously wrong with it.
I'll redo the camera as well as play with the terrain textures a bit and see where that leaves me.
I am starting to like small but well done projects. Have any like this? Post screens here! I'll start. Here is the start of a small Dominion base on Mar Sara and a bit of the surrounding area. It still is not quite done, but I'll take feedback if you want to give any. I'll also do the same for you :)

I know but what do I fill it with is the question.

huh that's odd. I did use noise and it made it a bit hilly in some places. O well it's too late to do anything else now.
