Avogatro, thx for editing the markup in my pages ;) I'll get to finishing off the effects tab soon...
EDIT:
Onisagi, for the first part, i can try table view for my next page.
Second part, i think that would be way too many pages and linking. I only thought about throwing all the common fields (Like the "Editor" fields, Chance, Response flags, target +, etc.) into a seperate page.
Not using screenshots because all i can screenshot is texts, which i'm copying over anyway.
I'll add screenshots for the main page for effects. i'll probably set it up tommorow. Right now i'm just putting links on the front page cause i'm lazy and its almost midnight.
Also finished Create Persistent effects page, last one i'm doing today. Linking it to the front page of the wiki right now.
EDIT: Moved everything to a placeholder page, which is where avogatros link leads to (and all other links to effects i could find as well). If you find any other link to "effects", or a location where there should be a link, replace it with this line (without the first and last two reverse-slashes. They got there because i had to block the markup...): \\
[[galaxy/data/effects|Effects]]\\
EDIT: Just checked the lighting editor page. Nice :) Altough some descriptions of what the things do could be handy.
Also, i'll be editing my first 2 effect pages tommorow to get the formatting right.
If more people join in, we could have the wiki done really quickly. How about we news this?
Also, just finished the "Apply Force" effect page. Took me longer to format the damn thing than write it, but it looks nicer than my previous wiki page. I'll see whether i can make my third one look even better...
As i said before, and in the comments of the wiki, i'll move all effects links to a more appropriate page once ive done more of em.
EDIT: Anyone else gonna claim another section of the editor? The more of us do this, the better. It'd also be useful to know who wants to do what so that the others keep their hands off of that part of the wiki until its done.
We could use a couple of people on actors, behaviors and abilities. I can start doing parts of abilities once we're done with effects, will do units as well if no one claims them by then
I'll try and finish effects by next week.
Current claims:
Effects - The Almaity
Units - Up for grabs, otherwise Almaity
Aight, got it. Added my page to the main page under data as well (Once i get more of the data pages up, i'll create a seperate page for "Effects" themselves and link to effect types from there)
Anyone who knows what the fields do i'm unsure about, please edit them (or tell me to), and any comments are apreciated on what i should do better. I'll try to start using the wikiCreole markup once i get the hang of it so that i can actually get all those colors/fonts/sizes that most tutorials and wiki pages have on mapster
After writing up a page and then clicking the "create page" button, it says i don't have access to manage that page...
I tried to make a page for the "Apply Behavior" effect type. I'm pasting it below, so if anyone else wants to post it there, or tell me whether it's ok or not and/or how else i should do these, do so.
EDIT: Does mapster support anything like "spoiler" buttons, or w/e they're called, that other forums have to make text appear only after a button is pressed? Cause that's a big post by me right here and i guess majority of people won't care about anything below this sentence.
Quote:
Apply Behavior
Apply behavior effects do what their name implies - They apply a behavior to a unit. There is really nothing special to it, if you need to apply a behavior to a unit, use this.
(None) - Chance 1
The chance the effect has to occur when executed.
AI - AI Notify Flags
Notifications sent to the AI when the effect is executed, I believe this makes the AI react when this effect is used.
Behavior: Behavior wikiApplyBehavior (Unknown)
Which behavior is applied by the effect. Default value is a behavior that has the same ID as the effect. If there is no such behavior, it will state "<ID> (Unknown)", as shown above, and when you want to change the behavior, the box for the drop down menu will be blank.
Behavior Count 1
Number of behaviors it will apply when executed. If you're behavior is stackable and you want multiple stacks to be applied by a single effect, change this number.
Editor: Editor Categories
What category it belongs to inside the editor. Categories are the races.
Editor Comment
A comment on the effect in the editor, no in game effect, only there in case you want to leave notes or something like that i believe.
Editor Description
A description of the effect visible inside the editor
Editor Name wiki Apply Behavior
Name of your effect
Editor Prefix
Prefix to the name of the effect, useful if it belongs to a group of effects (like spells) and if each effect has a prefix, you can just search for the prefix and find all effects of the group at once. Will never be shown in game.
Editor Suffix
Suffix to the name of the effect, same purpose as prefix. Won't be shown in game.
Effect: Kill Hallucination Disabled
Whether the effect kills hallucinations upon execution.*
Response Flags
AI response flags, these tell the target's AI what to do. If no flags are set and the effect is executed on an idle unit, the unit will not react.
Validators (wikiApplyBehaviorTargetFilters (Unknown))
Basically the "condition" that has to return true for the effect to execute.
Target - Marker + 1:(Disabled|Disabled|Disabled|Disabled):(Disabled|Disabled|Disabled|Disabled):Effect/wikiApplyBehavior
Target markers. Never used them. Someone please fill in.
Tech Tree - Tech Aliases
Never used this either. Obviously somehow connected to the tech tree. Someone please fill in.
Unit - Unit + Target
The target of the effect. Not to be mistaken with the target of the ability/behavior/effect that leads to the execution of this effect.
Values:
Target: The target of the ability or effect that caused this effect to be executed.
Caster: The unit that started the chain of effects that included this effect.
Source: Most likely the unit this effect originates from, for example if a behavior is applied to some unit, and that behavior then somehow applies this behavior, Source will most likely target the unit that has the first behavior, and not the caster.
Outer: No idea. Please fill in.
Unit Origin: Most likely something similar to "Caster" and "Source", please fill in.
Using the appropriate target value is very important. A zealot's charge ability for example has an ability target that is more or less obsolete, since nothing happens to the target. The zealot's "Apply Behavior" effect for his charge ability is targeted at the caster, so even though the ability targets a unit, the effect executes on the zealot. This is important if you're trying to buff your own unit depending on other units.
Combining this with a search effect for example can let you apply a behavior for each unit in the search's radius.
First attempt at such a wiki page! Please correct mistakes (or PM me corrections) and help me fill in the things i didn't know. Will wait to see whether this is ok before creating pages for the other effect types.
I guess i'll get started on the Data parts for our wiki here on mapster tommorow then. Well, technically seen today for me. 00:29 at the time of writing here...
Again, dibs on effects.
I guess just copying all the fields and then explaining each one should be enough? I'll organise it neatly of course ;)
EDIT: Lol, i just noticed that this was my 404th post. Don't we all love that number?
Dibs on Effects! I'll see whether i can do something on em tommorow :) I'll mostly likely just copy a list of fields from the editor itself, then just explain each field. Maybe add some examples as well, etc. If anyone has suggestions on what i should include, tell me and i'll do my best :)

YES!!! FINALLY!!! Lol, GL man, GL. I'll give you a Cookie if you get them to upgrade this place.
And since no one answered the question in my post, i'll just go ahead and do as i said there.
