Correct me if I'm wrong but that's also alot of downloading if the map is updated frequently.
Only if you update the mod, players need to download it again.
That's the reason why I'm only putting imported files into mods. Every other data is likely to be touched one day causing file updates.
I'm actually using 2 mod files: one is bigger than 40mb. I guess I won't touch it again before I officially release my game. The other one is smaller and receives files from my map. Then I can reduce the size of my map again resulting in smaller patch downloads.
So would less than 6 players be okay, or must the map allow 6 players to even be considered?
Singleplayer maps are fine, too, as they are mentioned in the blog post. Blizzard just doesn't want maps that require more than 6 players to be able to be enjoyed.
It depends on how good you think SCU is really. And everyones taste is different, blizzard is going to pick 5 maps, And than out of those 5 the community will pick the winners. SO I suggest you make it as flashy as possible :P
Wrong. Blizzard grabs the best valid entries and makes a poll with these semi-finalists. Then players can vote and the five best maps become the finalists. After that, Blizzard will crown the top three maps based on their own rating.
We have updated the ruleset and now GERMANY, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND, RUSSIA, THE CZECH REPUBLIC, CROATIA, THE UKRAINE, POLAND, BULGARIA AND HUNGARY are included. Unfortunately due to many regulations for contests in different countries it is not always possible to include all countries though we would like to. Here in this case however it was a mistake that we didn't have those added from the start.

Excellent! Thank you for answering that. :)
