Thanks for the advice. Like I said, I already modified the permissions on these problematic files and folders, and I also ran the editor as root (I'm on a Mac, its not called administrator there). Still, the problem persists: every time I try to publish a map with a screenshot, I get an error.
In case a Blizzard employee sees this, the full error message is: Unable to save resource file (kCFHostErrorHostNotFound / kCFStreamErrorSOCKSSubDomainVersionCode / kCFStreamErrorSOCKS5BadResponseAddr / kCFStreamErrorDomainPOSIX / evtNotEnb/ siInitSDTblErr / kUSBPending / dsBusError / kStatusIsError / kOTSerialSwOverRunErr / cdevResErr / EPERM - / Error code is the version of SOCKS which the server wishes to use / / POSIX errno; interpret using <sys/errno.h> / event not enabled at PostEvent /slot int dispatch table could not be initialized. / / bus error / / / Couldn't get a needed resource; alert / Operation not permitted - (1), /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/StarCraftIITemp/Publish/<map name>.SC2Map/Screenshot01.jpg)
Again: I didn't have this error before patch 3.0.0. I also thought it was a problem of permissions on my side. Weirdly, similar files are created without problem when the map has no screenshot. But, from what I could see on the web (a, b, c) this error could be due to an Apple Push Notification problem inside SC2 Editor, fixable only by Blizzard. Since I still got the error even after completely re-installing the game, it is probably an error in the editor code.
I'm on Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11).
It may be another bug in the publishing code of the editor: it seems temporary files are created with only read and execute permissions, but not write permissions. In case the screenshot1.jpg is written several times during the publishing steps, then second time it tries to write it it fails because it can't override the existing file. Not sure if this is the issue and why it would occur now and not before, but a blizzard employee with the source code could test that.
Pitfall: When trying to publish I get a: Warning: Document aliases could not be accessed: CLIENTSIDECACHE_LOAD_UNABLE_TO_OPEN_FILE .
Solution: Remake the map (thx houndofbasker). Can follow these quick steps: save as a ComponentsList, then go to the folder created and open ComponentList.SC2Components. Save this as a new map (temporarily changing the name).
------
Pitfall: Unable to save resource file... Operation not permitted (1) error occurs during publish preparation (hence, can't publish the map). Occurs for file /Users/<username>/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/StarCraftIITemp/Publish/<map name>.SC2Map/Screenshot01.jpg
Cause: It looks like it has to do with the screenshots and file permissions. If I delete all the screenshots from "Battle.net info", I can publish the map. It seemed like a permissions problem but I manipulated it in many ways without success: changed file and folder permissions, opened editor as root, even changed file format from .tga to .dds, etc.. This occurs with any map I create (new or old).
I don't have a solution yet, except for publishing without screenshot. Does anyone else have the same problem?
I cannot publish any map from my mac OS X machine, even a very basic one, and I get the same error message. So I don't think re-doing the map will help me.
I can publish my map from another mac OS X machine, as well as other windows machines.
Re-installing the game entirely didn't solve the problem.
I don't get the screenshot you put here; it is a multiple languages problem?
Pitfall (Mac only): Unable to publish map. I get a: Warning: Document aliases could not be accessed: CLIENTSIDECACHE_LOAD_UNABLE_TO_OPEN_FILE . Then the preparation to publish fails with an Unable to save resource file... error.
I saw a couple of old posts mentioning this error, and saying it is due to a modem problem, but it is not (I tried to do it from different places and restarted modems).
I managed to publish the exact same map from a friend's computer running windows 7 (on the same network connection).
I confirm: I was just able to publish a Map in Europe but it failed in the US (Transmitting Header File - Failed, : Error "variant definitions could not be validated").
Pitfall: There are bugs when I play my published map online that do not exist when I open it locally (with "Test Document" from the editor).
"Uncommandable" units are actually uncommandable locally, but I can control them in my map online. They seem to have lost the flag, since some triggers and spells that should not target them do.
Online, a weird square appears at the top of my map (cf joined image)
Solution: I guess only blizzard folks can do something against these inconsistencies
Pitfall: (Possibly a Mac only issue) - Unable to create new tabs in the data editor. For example, if I want to open the Effects tab in the Data editor and it is not currently open, nothing will happen. This makes working on my map impossible.
I have the same issue (Mac user).
Solution: More of a workaround, but instead, you can open data tabs from the menu at the top of the editor, under 'Data'. This works for me.
We are a quite a few Mac users with the test Document not working (also known as Error: Unable to execute '/Applications/StarCraft II/Support\SC2Switcher.app'). This almost completely prevents all mac users from using the editor.
Just wanted to mention there is a separate thread for this specific issue here: @Yeowolf01: Go
