How do I make it so that I can build a building anywhere? I have a building that's suppose to be an orbital defense platform, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to make it buildable in space, any help would be appreciated.
The placement footprint determines what terrain flags are required for the building to be placed. Make a footprint that has no required or invalid flags on it's Placement Check map and you can build it anywhere.
Just woke up and decided to have a look, I can't find anywhere in the footprint that'd allow me to turn off it's build restrictions. I've been all over the footprint data, and there isn't much there to change. Anything that could even remotely effect it's placement, I've tried changing. :|

I'm trying to give a unit an ability where he fires a beam at a target and does damage over time, like the void ray. I know you do this via persistents but I can't figure out how to get a specific damage effect to use a persistent. I want the beam to use the Archons beam, but all it will do is fire once and be done with it. I've tried using the void ray, and the disruption beam from the Sentry. I even looked at the actors but I can't tell what actor would make it be persistent like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To the first question: just get rid of its footprint completely. It doesn't need one.
To the second: BeamStyleAnimationContinuous. You'll need to manually add an event to destroy the beam once the persistent effect turns off.
Edit: Ok I got it to be buildable in space by removing it's footprints and making it's plane/mover air. But another question regarding the turret, is there a way to make it so it can only be built in space, and not on land? It's suppose to be an ORBITAL defense platform, after all.

Well shouldnt you search a bit deeper like check both possibilities? I do that and usually find what im looking for :P
