Im trying to clone a Colossos, and make a mini clone of it, and lowering its damage but how ever i clone it i cant get it to work, i can scale down the actor and it works great but if i clone the weapon and its effects.. but when i attack with it the "beams" are gone!
It's extremely complicated to duplicate. I did it once, but I couldn't tell you exactly how any more. I will say that you'll have to duplicate several colossus actors that aren't automatically duplicated when you duplicate the colossus, and you have to go through the events and other parts of each actor to make sure they link to the new weapons/actors etc. Basically duplication doesn't duplicate everything you need, and since some stuff doesn't get duplicated, when you duplicate them they won't be linked to automatically.
its not that hard to duplicat at all... im horrible at the data editor myself, and the VERY VERY first thing I ever did in galaxy editor was add a 3rd beam to it attacks, just by copying whats alrady there...
First copy the weapon and ALL the effects/actors, heres like a bunch per each beam...the trick is calling the "new name" in each effect and actor, let me see if i can find my old post on it, maybe itll help
basically what I learned was this, when you duplicate the weapons, the effects/actors still target both the old effects and the old unit, so once you duplicat the weapon/effects...ect go to each of them , and simply make sure where ever you see "blah blah blah" make sure it now says "blah blah blah (duplicate) kinda thing. Also make sure at the top it now targets your new unit, and not the old one. (like it will)
if this does not help you, ill be happy to do a step by step for you, doing so will help me relearn some of it anyway, so its a win/win. Its ashame I know so little about actors...ect as they are by far the most powerfull thing about this editor.
I did this,
I started duplicating(i selected every thing here(do i need the model?) the weapon and making sure that everything pointed right(it did).
Then i started by duplicating the Unit and only selecting the actor(not the weapon actor).
Then i changed Weapon + on the unit and changed Events on the Actor so start and attack animation used the new weapon..
If i look in my "Link" window when i have selected my unit there are no "orginal" nodes that belongs to the orginal weapon only my duplicated version is there...
But still when i run the game there is no beam.. but the damage is dealt from the custom weapon (i changed the damage to verify that)..
What am i missing please help!

Can some one write down how to do it?
Thanks alot...
Actually cloning weapons dont work that well. Clone the unit and then give the cloned unit the original weapon.
@sonnert: Go
But i need to modify the damage of the weapon without changing the original unit
@Petoj87: Go
