Question: Is it possible to create new weapons?. If I wanted the marine to instead of using the weapon of a Colossus. Could I create my own weapon or even better yet use an ability like nukes as weapons?.
So far, I'm just playing a lot with the data editor to see what comes up. But I want to make it so a unit can use an ability as a weapon. Instead of having to click the ability for that unit to use it.
Yup, if you change the effect of the Gauss Rifle to Nuke - Calldown, then he will drop a nuke every time he attacks.
If you want to bypass the "dropping" bit, you can use the Nuke (Damage) effect instead. The actor is already set up to create the explosion any time the Damage effect is invoked, so basically your marine would be creating massive explosions on every attack. Of course, he'd probably get himself killed pretty quickly since the nuke does not discriminate.
Of course, it is very simple to modify the nuke so that it won't affect the marine or his allies.

I'm actually kind of confused by that. I know if i set the effect to aalready created effect, it works, but how do I get those animations without the effect?
Example: Custom Marine with Custom Weapon
I want the damage to be like a siege tank explosion blast on the target. But it seems only the siege tank effect has this explosion animation. Is it best just to create a copy of the siege tank animation and modify it to suit my needs? Or is there any other way to get the explosion effect? I actually haven't found a tutorial or any explanation on how to create custom effects, so any help would be appreciated.
Also, I followed the custom marine customization tutorial, one issue is that the when the marine fires, the gun effect doesn't go off like the normal marine, the muzzle fire.. Is there anyway to get it?

Actors have data fields that tell them to respond to certain events. You can modify the event fields of the actor to have them respond to specific abilities. Just look at actors for existing abilities for an example.

You can simply change the effect of the weapon to the effect of the ability you want it to use on attack.
