I recently published my new map, and the process went smoothly. However, even though i set it to public, it doesn't show up on the list, and no one but people i invite can enter my game.
I went through the stickyed FAQ post, and that didn't do anything.

You did "Open to Public" after hosting, right? And I don't mean during the map publishing, I meant after you create a lobby.
Another probability is that if your game hasn't been played much, then players have to hit the "More" button like 6 times to see the bottom and join it. It could be that not many players do this, giving you the appearance that only invited players can join, when in fact every one else just doesn't bother look at the bottom very often.
Yup same problem here. The 'open to public' button only works for melee maps which basically renders it useless. There are only 5-6 'show more' buttons you can click before it reaches the bottom of the list and I know there are WAY more maps than that. I haven't been able to play my map since I published it a few days ago and so I'm not even going to bother working on new maps until they fix the custom game system. I really have no idea how I'm supposed to promote my map enough that is shows up on the list.

You have to set the Category to a different one. The Open to Public button can then be clicked.
I can confirm it. Even now I am hosting a custom map, Spine Crawler D. The "Open to Public" Button appears as soon as I change the Category from "Custom" to "Tower Defense".
I hope this helps!
Kantunan, Your map will show up if it is played within the past hour. Private games don't count, you have to open to public the way I mentioned above, and I hope soon enough your map will become popular. I hope this improves your view of the custom game system, but regardless it still needs A LOT OF WORK...
Thanks for the tip. After a bit more searching on here, turns out I had everything setup good but you have to have your map unlocked before the option becomes available... I don't really want to go ahead and publish it unlocked though, whatever :\
