hey all, i had an idea for a wasteland/western style multiplayer map. basically its just an idea now, but i think it would be fun :)
so far what i've got is an idea for 3 different game modes that could be played on the same map: Train Heist, Bank Buster, and Wanted.
For Train Heist; there would be a train similar to the one from the campaign, but on the ground not hovering, with players on one team on/inside the train acting as sheriffs defending the gold delivery. the train would move around the map and make stops at each town. the other team would play as the bandits and try to destroy the train before it can finish its route and reach the end.
For Bank Buster; again one team would play as the law and the other team as the bandits. the bandits would have to destroy a bank in one town before a certain time is up while the law defends the bank. after the time limit (or the bank is destroyed) the bank would move to another town and the bandits would have to attack it there while evading the law. points would be awarded to the law for keeping the bank safe within the time limit or to the bandits for blowing it up.
For Wanted; well this would be more of a free for all type of thing similar to Assassin's Creed multiplayer. where the camera bounds might be restricted to one town (so the maps not too big) and each player gets a contract for another player. each player would be a different unit (scientist, marine, medic, etc) and the contract that a player receives shows the player's name and the unit that they are playing as, but there would be many scientists or medics, so that the bounty hunter would have to spot strange behavior to find the person they are supposed to kill. the NPCs would be moving randomly around the town rather than standing still (so a player that stops moving for too long would be spotted easily). if the bounty hunter kills an NPC then they lose their contract and receive another one for a random player.
these are just basic ideas for game modes and are not fully thought out.
for the terrain, i would like something similar to the wasteland in a Fallout game mixed with a western style that you would find in any 'old west' movie.
if anybody would like to help out i could definitely use a terrainer and a data and/or trigger editor. also if you would like to chip in and make a western-type loading screen that would be pretty cool.
opinions and ideas would be appreciated. if you can think of anything to add to the existing game modes or even new game modes, write a description of them.
also, i was thinking if it should be a FPS or the classic SC2 top-down style. i have WASD movement triggers for both styles that shouldn't produce too much lag for a multiplayer game... i'm leaning more towards the top-down style, but i don't really know yet so any input on this too would be great :)
