Hey, i wasnt really sure where to ask my question but seemed pretty general so here we go...
I create custom maps for the current release wings of liberty, but when HOTS comes out, will these players still be able to find and play my map??
And lets say if they seperate WOL game lobbies from HOTS like they did with sc and sc:broodwar(which would be terrible), can i also upload the map that i created for WOL in HOTS?
@Rice87: Go I think this is a dependency issue. HoTS players will totaly be able to play WoL maps, but WoL players won't be able to play HoTS maps. I really hope they will be able to play together WoL maps and Blizzard's maps such as the upcoming DOTA. And yes, you can upload your map in HoTS normally.
@Rice87: Go Yes, that's right. HoTS units and other assets in general wont be avaiable for WoL, only HoTS. And I think that's why Blizzard is going to change it in patch 1.5 so we get campaign and melee under Starcraft tab and other custom games under Arcade tab. In Starcraft are the game options you are forced to choose WoL or HoTS before playing anyway. For arcade you don't necessarily choose WoL or HoTS, if you have both installed you can play all games, ir you only have WoL either you wont see the maps that require HoTS or they will be grayed out, but I'd say its the first option.
I have no idea to be honest- they could make it work either way via dependencies.
I can say this, though- If I remember correctly, you were NOT allowed to rip Frozen Throne models/units and put them into maps for the standard game. Blizzard can make it work either way for sc2, because of the way dependency files are now handled. We've got no confirmation on it though, so who knows?

Blizzard officially stated somewhere back when the new units were announced that maps for WOL that use any content from HOTS will be banned. This also means that WOL players wont be able to play HOTS maps.

@SoulFilcher: Go
So if i understand correctly, if i update my maps with HOTS units i will not be able to upload it on WOL?
@Rice87: Go
Yup.
Most likely there will be 2 different list, and you will have to publish it under HOTS or WoL.
