Hello, I'm a big fan of Starcraft and custom maps. With the release of Starcraft 2, I want to start working on a few ideas of custom map. However, the last time I worked on a custom map was with the original Starcraft editor. I don't have any training with coding and I'm wondering what sort of experience I should try to acquire for the upcoming release of the Galaxy editor.
What would be useful skills to learn to improve my abilities to make custom maps with heavy use of triggers?
From your experience, more than actually learning the coding of triggers I would suggest you to familizarize yourself with WarCraft III world editor as it will have most of the things that the Galaxy editor is supposed to have. Anything you learn in the WE will be very useful. Don't learn JASS though instead try to learn the basic concepts of C.
Galaxy is, from what I read, a primitive language very similar to C. There are many tutorials out there.

Yup, that's correct. Galaxy is based off of C, so being familiar with that would be a plus. However, as Geno also said, i'd recommend being familiar with WorldEdit. Though, I myself have never touched WE, but i'm thinking i'll be just fine for GE.
