Hey everybody. New here but I do have a question. I'm looking to just fiddle around with GE for a bit as I acclimatize myself to all the wonderful things that it does. But I don't want to find myself doing something amazing (to me) and then have to redo it again down the road because I flubbed initially.
Case in point, I've browsed the threads regarding dependencies and maps. My main goal is to create an "in-canon" like campaign that centers around a Protoss Praetor. I want to create him and I want to modify the units to my liking. I want to then use those units and my hero in and on subsequent maps.
So I guess my question is... how do I create the process and the units and the way the buildings interact with one another; the heroes and villains and their stats. And save that and make sure that I can use that on more maps and in different missions. I understand dependencies, I understand the bugs reference that, I understand how to modify units and what-not. What I am uncertain of is how to keep all of that in a file somewhere so that I can be like ok, gonna make the next mission, opening up the map and bam my units are there at my disposal.
Can you give me a point by point way of doing that so I don't have too much heartache?

Make a new file, and make sure you've selected "Mod" and not "Map". Get everything how you want it.
Then, in each of your maps, set the mod you've created as one of the dependencies.
Any changes you make to the mod will now affect all the maps that use it, too.
