Sooo. Ok. Im trying to build unit deaths for the dark colossus, dark phoenix, and dark observer models and having trouble. Ive got my textures, I went through the tutorial on texture select by ID, hoping I could map the dark colossus textures onto the CollosusDeath model, but no luck. Is there a fundamental reason this wont work? Or does it have something to do with the way you add events under the actor?
Are there already death models for dark protoss I could just steal?
Did you create a separate death Actor, rather than using the generic one linked to a specific model? Most Dark Protoss units die with a custom death Actor rather than the generic one, for that actor to also transfer texture changes to the death model (rather than just scale and the like).
Look up the main actor of an existing dark protoss unit as reference.
Thanks for the feedback. I guess Im having trouble figuring out how the dark protoss ugrade works. There are dark death models for those units, but they appear to be empty. Instead the unit actors have a customized death event with the subname "Dark Protoss". Since there arent separate death actors for the other units, I created a new death model for the colossus and added texture declarations for the dark colossus textures, and then added Unit Death events under the colossus actor to Texture Select by ID for those textures. Id hoped this would map those textures onto the dark colossus death model, but no luck so far.
@Itpohta: Go Using a new death actor you can select the texture from start, no need to check for the upgrade or anything like that. Let the unit actor check for the upgrade and select which death actor to use.
