So i did a ton of reading on the Attack Target priority using the behavior, flag "Generate Threat" to set the target to maximum priority.
I did the reading because it seems pretty easy and straightforward. Except it doesn't work for me.
I have all units in the game set to priority of 20. I have a simple ability which adds a behavior buff to the target, lets call it "Lock on Target". The buff has the "generate Threat" flag marked, yet my heros and other units still will not prioritize attacking that target.
I also tried using Target sorts using a behavior which i applied to the target units for testing. I put the Target sorts on the weapons being tested. Still doesn't work.
I use a simple apply behavior buff to the target. I checked the unit, it has the buff on it and still not attack target priority.
Very frustrating.
Only thing that seems to work is the "Attack Target Priority" in unit data. Yet, other people seem to have success so obviously it can be done.
Might add i tried Target Sorts. Here is the field data. I added into the weapons on the unit. I put the behavior on the targets for testing. Still doesn't work.
I've tried unit value as both caster and target. Neither work. I messed with the Target Sort fields on the weapon called percentage and count. Set the percentage to 1 and the count to -1 thinking that would be an infinite count. Still doesn't work. I also tried them both at 1.
Still doesn't work. That information on the website for Target sort Percentage and Count is still "Unknown".
I also tried the default Target Sort TSPriority. That also did not work.
I did find the information and I know that the count and percentage should both be 1, which I have done and left at but it still does not work. Generate Threat should be enough to boost the priority of the target, but it simply doesn't work.
I might add that this will not work with applying Target Sorts to the Search Area effect, (If you use that as an effect on the weapon) because my game mechanics have a rotating turret which moves with the actor of the unit. (It attacks while moving and faces the target while moving)
I tried putting Target sorts on the Search area effect and it works! but my unit will not face the target because the weapon is what forces the unit to face the target.
Unit prioritization is really what I need to work to fix this issue. While Target sorts may work with the Search Area effect, it certainly doesn't seem to work at all on the weapon itself.
