I am trying to make an ability where you simply use the ability with no target and it shoots a missile infront of the caster until it hits someone (with a set max range for the missile). All it does is cast the spell and blows up at the caster.
Ability is Effect - Instant with a launch missile attached to it. Wondering if there would be any better ways of doing it or if there would be an fix I could add to my abilities. If you don't have enough details about the ability just say so and I will add whatever needed. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I advise a Effect - Instant that uses a Create Persistent effect to launch the missile to an offset. Make a 2 phase Mover with the first phase being Guidance and the second being Ballistic for the missile with Motion Phases - Arrival Test Type set to Never for the second phase, this will mean the missile will not home in on anything after if goes in the right direction. I advise you read the tutorial by Blizzard about movers. Make a Buff behaviour and give it to the missile unit in the Behavior - Behaviors - Behavior field, the buff uses a periodic Search Area effect that applies a Set effect. The set uses the Damage effect called Suicide and your impact effect tree.
The max range can be set by the Motion Phases - Timeout field of the mover
