does anybody have any idea about the maximum ammount of persistent effects you can possibly have active at once in a game?
I am looking at making walls out of persistent effects that kill anything that steps over the "persistent effects"
I know the SC2 will stop spawnning "units" at around 16k + units
Any idea when the game will stop creating more "persistent effects" or "effects" in general?
Is there a max?
Any body wanna help test out the limitations?
Basically I have two fence posts.
Post 1 attacks post 2 doing no damage but creating a persistent called "persistent A" that travels from post 1 to post 2
the first spawned persistent moves a small distance towards post 2 creating a "persistent B" it creates alot of these in small intervals till it reaches post 2
"Persistent B" performs a very small search effect that does a dummy damage effect (for hooking damage on units with a trigger)
So I dynamically generate these walls as game goes... but it really depends on if the game will blow out from having too many persistent effects active.

Test it out, create like bazillions of persistants via trigger which give you some kind of reaction (a small visual indicator for example)
Use some kind of giant loop, which spawns them at small offsets and spam the whole map. Use a very performant visual indicator (for example the ghost nuke dot or smth, dont take complex unit models).
If you can spot holes in your pattern, you could have reached a limit.
I made a map that tests the max units like this in a grid I guess Ill try to mod it to make persistent effects as well. But then I need to Create an actor for the persistent effect... which Im not even sure is possible. I guess Ill find out.

yup Thats what Ill be doing...
