Hello. I'm really desperated with data editor. Is it really that hard to change units damage without losing attack animation? I know how to do custom unit with custom name, model, health and armor but changing damage/weapon/effect is just too difficult.
Do you know any good and easy to understand tutorials how to make customed Marauder or Firebat?
Ugh. You know, you could just click the unit, look in the box under the unit selection menu, scroll down to the damage effect, and change the value number to whatever you want. Right? :D
Edit: When you find a unit and you select the one you want, there's a box under that right? You go into there (once you select your unit) and find the effect that causes damage to units. (Example - Psi Blades (damage)) You find the value that tells how much dmg it deals (Example - Combat amount - 8 ) and change the number to what you want. Is this what you were talking about?
As long as you've duplicated a unit's actor you shouldn't have this problem. The unit actor controls basic attack animation and is independent from what weapon you're using, or how much damage it's doing. For a Marauder, check under "Actors" and see if you have "Marauder" and "MarauderAttack (Unnamed)" or at least duplicated equivalents referring to your unit.
Haha. Thanks Johnzee. Your tip "Also, don't give up!" was most useful. I can tell you that I spent many hours and had many hopeless moments. But now I know how to do it. I'm still working my tutorial but I had great succes feeling when I learned it :)
If you look under behaviours there is a hint. In Horner05S it seems Raynor was meant to be able to swap between 3 weapons but this was not fully implemented or was removed. However the behaviours still remain showing you how to do it.
