I'm trying to get the "Miner (Male)" default movement buttons to show in-game, or civilian for that matter. All 5 are on his command card by default, yet in-game his command card is empty. Any idea why?
Progress!!! (been searching forums and messing around in the data module for 2 days now trying to get anything to happen..)
So, your last sentence made me move the buttons one row down to see, and it worked!!!
Therefore, it must be your third option, text blocking it (guessing it's the little mouse picture in the top row that's behind all this). Where would I go to turn this off? I'd rather put them back on the top row and make them visible.
Also, I'm assuming the attack button still won't show since Miner's don't have an attack ability in the first place? If not, why put the button at all?.. New to all this as you can see :P
Look under the Move button. There should be a field called Simple Command Text or something similar. If you clear it then it will no longer hide the buttons. Alternatively you can disable the viewing of Simple command Text in the in-game options or using triggers.
I couldn't find "command text" anywhere under the move button. The only thing I could find similar to what you said was "Simple Display Text". It worked. The buttons show up in-game on the top row now, and are functional.
However, when I cleared its value, the field also disappeared... along with a bunch of other fields O.O.
Now, every unit only has 3 tabs under the Detail View (ability, unit, None) and most of the stuff in them are gone. As you can see here, only the command card is there, while the rest is gone. Compare it to my earlier picture to see...
I got the buttons to work correctly, but I think it screwed up the whole editor lol.
Edit: I guess maybe I deleted the wrong display text, one that's overarching, and it took down the command text with it lol. I'll load a new map later and try again...
I just tried again and it worked fine this time. It seems that the Simple Display Text under the move button was indeed the answer. I'm still not sure what caused all the tabs and such to disappear the first time I tried it though. Thanks again!

Does it have the required abilities linked to it?
Possible reasons buttons don't show up on the command card.
Look through the different areas I mentioned. Also, make sure the abilities are on the bottom row of the unit.

So as far as I can tell, the abilities are linked properly to each button. Here's a pic (magnifier corner of pic):
