posted a message on Map Publishing Error: "Too many score result defintions"

I published a new version of my map today after adding more heroes and when I try to create a game, I get this error.

I don't know what is causing the error as it doesn't occur when I test the map. I attempted to remove some of the Score related Data with no success.

Edit - Nevermind I figured this out. I have a whole bunch of upgrades, all of them set to "Score Result: Build Order" which the game did not like

Seriously, is this the community effort you want? There's so many threads here, many with genuine questions, that remain unanswered. Why? Everyone's too busy trying to get popular.

IMHO the reason there are so many threads here with unanswered questions is the same reason that many maps do not get the play time they deserve; the Starcraft2 community in general sometimes has problems using the search function.

It has been my experience in work as well as in my hobby here that no matter how much you post, prod and email about something, people will not find it unless it's in front of their face, or they need it.

That being said, I think the community playing each other's maps and giving feedback can only do 2 things. Increase the hours played on those maps and make them better through direct feedback. When can we get this started?

I love watching SC2 games. It can be more exciting than playing sometimes, especially when they are doing a bunch of crazy stuff that I can't.

Honestly, I doubt that the reason they are taking so long to implement any changes is due to "the boat taking a long time to turn". Remember, Blizzard is always working on WoW, they are working on HotS, they are working on D3 and they are also working on their new MMO. I don't think it's an issue of them taking a long time to fix, it's an issue of them waiting for HotS and the Map Market before taking the time to do anything.

So in the interim, we need things like this to focus us and ideas like Rodrigo's map of the week. If we take matters into our own hands then we don't have to wait for Blizzard.

posted a message on Volcanic melee Map

In regards to your map, I think the Gold mineral areas don't really fit for a melee 1v1 map, there are way to many of them. I would recommend splitting new islands off from where the gold minerals are now and making those the gold mineral spots and changing the platforms as they are now to having 1 expansion worth of normal minerals.

The volcano in the middle of your map looks pretty cool but the rest of it is kinda bland. Check out my map and see how the lava flows across the terrain. The lava tile set has some good textures to make this effect while still having pathable terrain.

This is my volcano. I made this one quite a while ago. The golds in the middle can only be accessed by air and the path to the other start location is around the base of the mountain. Starting locations are at the SW and NE mineral locations and there are Watch Towers near the naturals that give you vision of your opponent's main.

What I've seen of the data editor isn't hard, just spaghetti. *sigh*

Well put, and this does sound pretty fun. If it was only the towers I had to do, I might be interested in the data work and I've been wanting to do some building specific work. I do have 2 projects I'm working on now, however.

posted a message on Map of the Week: Rodrigo's Idea

This is a POSITIVE idea. I read Prozaic's thread first when I said you were only being negative. Unfortunately it seems that 2 of the top posters on this site are at ends. Factions will develop and it will rip the community in half if Prozaic and Rodrigo keep this up. The important concept if we want to push Blizzard to do something is that A. it's a good idea and B. we're all in it together.

An SC2 map of the week would give us some control instead of leaving it all in Blizzard's hands waiting for them to fix it and I like this. Blizzard is usually pretty good about letting it's community shape the games destiny and so I don't think it would be opposed too greatly.

Prozaic's thread about collaborating on map testing, tutorials and community support will help as well in more of an indirect manner. This idea represents taking action and I am all about that.

I've been wanting to join in on something like this. Hit me up. My work schedule is changing to 1P - 12A but I'll have tue, wed, thu off. I have a mic and am well over 18. I really want to get something going, so even if it's just me and you Prozaic, I don't care.

I applied the behavior to the tumor via the create effect but I did just add the behavior onto the Broodlings. I'll try and put it in the create effect for those as well and see what happens.

Marine Protocol is fun as Hell but I never would have found it if I wasn't just randomly picking maps past page 10. And I probably won't play it again after reaching level 6 because I can't get anyone in a game to make it go on past night 5.

As far as the Mods having weak enforcement, it could swing the other way and it could be like the TL forums where they ban you b/c "you could have google searched it". I prefer a lax environment where it doesn't feel like you have a Forum Nazi over your shoulder ready to whack your hands with a ruler for having a bit of fun on the forums.

I know it's bad for mappers, but there are very few maps below page 1 worth playing anyway.

Wow, that is absolutely and completely not true. I make it a point to go to page x+10 and try out maps from there. I have found quite a few games that could be fun if only it were possible to get more people into them.

What we need to do is to reach Blizzard... They have to get that we are the custom maps. A wise man once sad: Hoping is useless. If you want to change something you have to do something.

You are absolutely right. The thing is Blizzard isn't going to listen to just 1 person or just a handful of nobodies. If we are one cohesive unit will a legitimate suggestion, then they will listen. They operate just the same as any other corporation, off of empirical data.

If you don't realize, prozaic was the one who brought war, not me. He was the one that came here spamming in all the threads about zen ideas that won't solve much.

It's not about a war dude, it's about attitude and approach. You can't deny that you have been negative and this is a unilaterally POSITIVE approach to solving the problem.

I'm down to help you Proziac. The community is what is important, I agree and I think we've all been following Rodrigo's lead too much. But that's because he was the only one talking. If the rest of us will commit to being as vocal as he is but in a more positive matter then we can turn it around. And I know, I'm not innocent as I've made a post on Starcraft2.com trying to find out what it takes. Rodrigo even commented on that thread.

I am well rounded in Triggers, Terrain and Data work all. Data being my strongest point.

I have been making a point to play other people's maps lately and give them feedback on their forum posts here and on Starcraft2.com since I figured if I wanted people to play my map I probably should do the same for others. I am fully behind you on this. I am willing to help you review maps and come up with more tutorials and I'm ready to get everyone helping each other.

Unfortunately, that did not work. I tried every option available under Kill Credit+ with multiple combinations on the Tumor and the Broodlings with no success. I ended up just triggering the effect I wanted, but if there is a way to do this in the data editor, I would prefer that.
