First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.

Features

  • all 10 original missions + the tutorial
  • original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
  • original SC1 Terran soundtrack
  • all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
  • classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.

"Artistic License"

(some notable differences from the original campaign)

  • Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
  • extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
  • Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
  • two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

Downloads

Links to the latest versions, by language. You will need both the maps and the mod file to play (see "How to play" below).

PLEASE NOTE that for the latest versions and the Campaign Launcher, you will also need the latest (or at least close to latest) version of Starcraft 2. For older versions, check the "Files" section.

French version

German version

Russian version

Italian version

Korean version

How to play

  • extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
  • extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
  • extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)

Campaign Launcher installation:

  • launch the Starcraft 2 editor
  • open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
  • wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
  • find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
  • copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
  • Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.

more info:

  • You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
  • If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

I wasn't able to install it on HotS and I couldn't find original StarCraft 2 downloader anywhere. Back in a days SC1 seemed too hard for me so I never got to play much of campaign. I want to correct it now.

    Hey peeps,

I am having some what of a dilemma, before SC2 HotS came out everything was working fine, all the modded campaigns were working perfectly no crashes no nothing, so after my play through of HotS I wanted to go back and play through every SC2 campaign again, however this time it wont let me load any of the maps, ive re downloaded everything made sure every file and folder were in the correct directory area's and still I cant open the maps?

by the way the exact error I get is "unable to open map" then i get sent straight back to the log-in screen >_>

can some one help me with this? its driving me crazy lol

I'm probably stupid but there is one step in the campaign launcher instillation that I really do not understand: "save the game and exit the map." I test the document, and it runs the launcher just fine (I can click "rebel yell" and play missions) but there I do not see where the hell you save the game. The standard sc2 menu bar is not at the top of the screen until I start a mission. I need some clarification as to what and where exactly I am supposed to save.

Also: I spent a veeeerrry long time modifying the pre 1.5 "Jacobs instillation" map to make it harder, fight more units, and be able to fight protoss. Now I cannot play any of these maps. I test the document and get "this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available." Is there anything I can do (perhapse triggers to delete?) which will make these maps playable again?

I am definitely a noob when it comes to this stuff so I apologize in advance.. when I open the editor and run "test document" all that happens is my window gets minimized and it doesn't seen to save or run anything... I tried to save the map.. but it just seems to be a map file as opposed to the save file I need to run it from loading out of the load screen in sc2.. can anyone help me please?

Campaign Launcher now available, with new installation instructions (that is, a new way to play the maps). Also, I know it says "main" in the page title, but please post on the actual front page, this page very rarely gets read.

Gemeres, I have the same problem. The maps used to load just fine before the recent 1.5 patch, but now the game requires you to login when you try to load the maps (whereas it didn't before) and after doing so nothing happens. If anyone knows of a new way to load the maps now that would be great. I've tried everything I know and it hasn't worked.

EDIT: I just figured out a way to load the maps! Wasn't so difficult after all. Open the SC2 Editor, then load the map you want to play with the editor (File - Open - wherever your files are saved). Once the map has loaded in the editor click the Test Document button near the top right of the toolbar, this will open the map in SC2. I haven't gotten a chance to actually play much yet, but the levels seem to work fine when you open them this way.

I got a problem. I installed the mod right (Did it like 3 times already), i also installed maps right. Everything in the right directory and all. Then i drag a map into the exe / shortcut, game launches and boom. Login happens and then nothing. I really have no idea why it doesn't autorun the map or do actually try to do anything? From quick googling i didnt really find anyone with same issue so need halp!

    Edit:

Icecold, yeah. Pretty much sums my experience too, i tried older mod files and everything. Nothing happens. Sadly i was looking forward to playing the campaing on sc2 engine.

Hey just finished Iron fist. GREAT work! I was all nostalgic while playing it. Thanx a lot for making these maps as good as you do.

Had a bunch of fun! Well done! (Favourite part is the sounds and music from SC1)
