Overrun!! is a 4 Player Co-op Base/Tower Defense Map. The goal is to keep the Communication Tower alive. Build a variety of units, bunkers, and turrets to defend against waves of attacking enemies. All units have unique mechanics and upgrades available. The game is split into 3 tiers of increasing difficulty and complexity.
Release Two Notes:
- This version of the map only covers the first 2 tiers (20 levels, about 55 minutes).
- Tier 1 is pretty tightly balanced, but some aspects may need adjustments. Tier 2 will likely see major adjustments in upcoming patches.
- Enemies only spawn for active players, you can play by yourself and it will only spawn for you.
- Overdrive abilities are meant to be used with other players! Communicate with your team and decide when to use them.
- Tier 2 Notes: You need anti air for level 14, but not much. Air after that is levels 16, 18, and 19. Nydus mobs in tier 2 give no bounty. Killing the nydus gives 75.
- No localization yet. It is on the list.
- I'd really appreciate any comments or feedback! Reply here or email me at raingame@gmail.com. Thanks!

Geffz Jun 19, 2011 at 08:17 UTC - 0 likesJust played this again, i have to say its way too easy now! everything costs less cept upgrades, bunkers automatically heal themselves as if they had medics, and it just becomes a joke no matter what you do.
However there are tons of bugs, archons in tier 2 ignore bunker taunt, theres a wave of archons where they just sit on the creep and pile up untill you bring a unit out there to lure them, and in tier 3 they are "massive" and ghosts cant shoot them.
Lots of buildings with upgrades are messed up, like multiple of the same upgrade showing up or having wrong tooltips, or for example, tier 2 bunker capacity increase from armory doesnt show up untill youve grabbed 2 armor upgrades.
And the missile turret doesnt have a +dmg upgrade, just range speed and durability :(
now if you know all this and have fixed it in your bug fix version, ignore this post! but i assume not because the map has been updated to be much easier so id guess you fixed the bugs at that point

RainGame May 01, 2011 at 20:16 UTC - 0 likesHey guys. Been a while since I've been on here.
First, let me say that I'm really sorry for disappearing on you guys months ago. When I stopped working on it back in October, I had just finished most of the work on the tier 3 buildings and units and I was about to start on making the levels and bosses. Making the new levels felt like a huge daunting task, because of how I had planned to incorporate enemy heros and advancing creep, as well as balancing out everything that far into the game. That was when I realized the huge flaw in my map, and what eventually burned me out and caused me to stop working on it.
The huge flaw is that the game is too long and doesn't utilize team work correctly, and fixing these issues would require a huge overhaul of most of the work I have already put into it. I could go on forever about how these flaws really hurt the games appeal, but the main problem is that so few people ever make it to the end of tier 2, all this effort I would have to put in for tier 3 would barely be seen by anybody.
Now I know these reasons don't justify me disappearing and abandoning the game and map all together, and I really feel bad about it. I put a ton of time into the map and it sucks to see it disappear off the list almost completely. I was and still am going through a lot of personal issues in my real life. Not bad things, just changes in interest and priority. I went almost completely cold turkey on SC2 and was too ashamed to tell my fans ahead of time, or even months after the fact. But I'm back now, so enough groveling about the past.
So for the future of Overrun: I've been putting together a fixed version of the map that addresses most of the bugs that cropped up during the last few SC2 patches, and I plan to upload it online sometime soon. I don't plan on implementing tier 3 waves at all. The units are there and you'll be able to use them for fun after level 20 for an endless level, but that's it. If I ever decide to actually do tier 3, there will first have to be a huge overhaul in the length and pacing of the game and how teamwork affects your progress.
The real reason I've decided to come back to the community is because I've decided to start working on a new map. The premise and idea for it is one I've had for about a year, it is not a defense map, but instead a goofy fun team PvP map (think a simplified dota mixed with super smash brothers). It's much more managable to make in scale and complexity, but I think the concept would be insanely fun. I won't be able to put in the 6+ hours a day for Overrun, but that is what burned me out so hard in the first place, so maybe that's a good thing. I'll need testers and debuggers for this map in the future, so it should be popping up on the radar soon.
Anyways, sorry for the huge rant, I just felt I had to get that off my chest if I was to come back and start a new map. I know I was really terrible about promising deadlines and not meeting them, and I've learned from that. It was always you guys, the fans, that really pushed me to work on Overrun as much as a did. It was only ever supposed to be a test map of me learning the editor back in beta. You guys have been amazing, and I'm sorry it took so long for me to come back. Feel free to send me a PM if you wanna ask about anything or just chat. :)

TertiumQuid Oct 13, 2010 at 13:54 UTC - 0 likesI "friended" Raingame and I checked when his last game was and it said it was more than 3 weeks ago. I have no idea what happened to him, but it is pointless to keep bothering him. He will update the game if, and when, he feels like it.
