Xeno Crisis

Description

Xeno Crisis is a deception/survival game set in Talmont Sector, a fringe R&D hub for the Kingston Logistics and Supply Corporation. The station recently received an automated rescue freighter from the mining planet Haroth, aboard which were a few colony survivors. The last transmission sent to the KLSC Fringe Operations Center was confirmation that the survivors had been secured - then nothing. The entire sector went dark.

Each player bears a unique role in Xeno Crisis. There is a Commander, the sector's official military leader; a Scientist, head of biotechnology; an Engineer, a seasoned mechanic and technological genius in charge of station repairs and upkeep; a Guard, hallmark of civil justice and protection; a Pilot, expert at commandeering small space vessels for transport and combat; and many more. The sector's survivors will need to band together to complete various objectives and stay alive.

But there's something else lurking around in the sector. Other personnel - civilians and military alike - have been found, but they've changed. They cannot be reasoned with. They hunger for human flesh. From every unlit corner they wait for their next meal to come wandering by. Something has caused these people to become monsters, and if the security recordings are to be believed, that something could be hiding inside any one of the survivors. A malicious creature, burrowed beneath the guise of human flesh. No friendly smile, no confiding eye, no generous handshake is to be trusted.

There are other hidden forces at work in Talmont Sector, with their own motivations and goals. Whether they are mankind's allies or enemies is yet to be seen...

Information

Xeno Crisis is the spiritual successor to Malum Ruina. Like MR, Xeno Crisis forces players into reluctant cooperation in the midst of a desperate struggle to survive an imminent alien horror. One player will be randomly chosen to be the Alien, an intelligent, malicious creature with the single-minded purpose to consume and enslave the human race. One-by-one the alien must pick off its human victims and become stronger. Humans who die while infected turn into spawns - thralls to their Alien Overlord.

The biggest difference between Xeno Crisis and Malum Ruina is the setting. Malum Ruina's scope was limited to a single planet. Xeno Crisis, in contrast, takes place in an entire sector of space, expanding the possibilities for missions and objectives, as well as hidden secrets...

Besides that, the combat system has received a nice upgrade using point-and-shoot concepts rather than the default Starcraft 2 format. There is also an engaging spaceflight system that allows for skillful combat and daring escapes. A myriad of updates and optimizations will make Xeno Crisis feel like an entirely new animal to fans of its predecessor.

Stay tuned - there are more details, screenshots, and videos to come!
