StarCraft: Mass Recall
StarCraft: Mass Recall (SCMR) is a project that recreates the classic StarCraft and Brood War gameplay as well as the entire single-player campaigns within the StarCraft II engine. StarCraft: Mass Recall contains 68 maps, 59 from the original StarCraft/Brood War game, 3 that were hidden or deleted on various StarCraft supports, and 6 from the 1998 demo campaign.
You need to have StarCraft II installed in order to play the Mod. StarCraft II is free-to-play, you can download the game client from the StarCraft II Official Game Site.

To install the SCMR Cinematics Pack if you've already run the installer without it, replace the "SCMRcinematics" file in your "Mods" folder with the one in the cinematics pack download. Similarly, if you have already downloaded the English Localization Mod but wish to change languages to one of the above supported versions, replace the "SCMRlocal" Mod file in your "Mods" folder with the respective language you wish to use.
If you've played previous versions of StarCraft: Mass Recall, for a clean installation it is recommended you delete any previous StarCraft: Mass Recall-related folders or ZIP-Archives from your StarCraft II installation directory, and delete or rename the SCMR.SC2Bank file in (Documents)/StarCraft II/Banks.

Installation

Auto-Installation
(for Windows, if you're using Mac follow the manual installation guide below)
For a fresh auto-install please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the SCMR installer and the required files (see the "Downloads" section above).
2. Move all downloaded ZIP-Files and unzip the installer to your StarCraft II installation directory. The default path to it is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\".
3. Run the installer.
4. After SCMR is successfully installed, use the shortcut on your Desktop to run SCMR.

Note that this is for an older version, just make sure you have all the latest required files specified in the "Downloads" section above, otherwise the process is the same.
Manual Installation
If auto-install fails and/or you would like to manually install SCMR, please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the required file sets (see the "Downloads" section above). For StarCraft: Mass Recall to work properly you need to download the Campaign Maps - that are bundled with the Main Mod (SCMRmod) and a "dummy" Cinematics Mod (SCMRcinematics) - as well as the Assets Mod (SCMRassets) and a Localization Mod (SCMRlocal).
2. Then extract all ZIP-Files to a folder of your choice. The extracted folder should look like graphic [1] below.
3. Now, open your StarCraft II installation directory where the StarCraft II.exe (WIN) or .app (MAC) is located. Per default this is on your primary C: drive under "Program Files (x86)" (WIN) or "Applications" (MAC). The standard paths to the StarCraft II installation directory are shown below.
Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II"
Mac OSX: "Macintosh HD/Applications/StarCraft II"
The StarCraft II installation directory should look similar to graphic [2] below. Note that you may need to create the "Maps" folder here if it does not already exist. Then move the folder called "Starcraft Mass Recall" (with lowercase "c") from the extracted folder to the "Maps" folder within your StarCraft II installation directory. The "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [3] below.
4. Next, move the "Mods" folder from the extracted folder into the StarCraft II installation directory (the same place as the "Maps" folder). Your "Mods" folder should now have four Mod files and resemble graphic [4] above.
5. While your newly placed "Starcraft Mass Recall" folder within the "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [5] below.

Alternative ways to play
If the above doesn't work for you, first and foremost make sure that:
- you have all the necessary files in the right directories
- you've set the correct paths for the shortcut
- you're running the latest version of StarCraft II
Alternative way to play without the shortcut:
- locate SC2Switcher.exe in the Support folder (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Support
- locate the SCMR Campaign Launcher file in (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall
- drag and drop the SCMR Campaign Launcher file to SC2Switcher.exe
If you wish to play while logged on to Battle.net, you will need to take the following steps:
- Launch StarCraft II using the Battle.net launcher
- Alt-tab to Desktop
- Launch StarCraft: Mass Recall using the created shortcut
Note that you can still save and load any SCMR map, as long as you're logged in.
Bonus Campaign - Enslavers Redux Installation

This file includes a new 30-mission extra bonus campaign "Enslavers Redux" by OmegaWeaponX! This series contains 4 episodes, with 9 unique maps per Terran, Protoss, and Zerg races, with 3 epilogue maps. Content and story is based on the original Enslavers custom maps in StarCraft and Dark Vengeance maps in Brood War. Features brand new dialog and story, missions, and enhanced heroes with their own level-up mechanics! Learn what happens between the major StarCraft episodes and the events leading up to StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty!
While this custom campaign can be played stand-alone by opening up the unique Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launching missions from there, it is also integrated into Mass Recall via the "Extras" menu. In order to load it properly in for the Mass Recall Launcher to work with this campaign, follow these instructions:
- Download the above ZIP-file containing Enslavers Redux
- Go into your StarCraft II folder -> SCMR Mass Recall -> Extras:
- Within Extras, place your ZIP-file, then uncompress it there. You should have a folder that says 8. Enslavers Redux. It should look like this now:
- You've got Enslavers Redux installed! Now from the SCMR Campaign Launcher go to Extras and click on the Enslavers Redux menu panel. You can launch any mission from here or open the Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launch missions from there!
Please note - This campaign has no unique audio for voices and as such it is required that subtitles are enabled in order to actually read what transmissions are saying :)

Troubleshooting

Make sure to check out the auto install and manual install video guides also linked above. The end result in these videos is the same, regardless of install method.
Also make sure you're using an up-to-date version of StarCraft II.
Common issues:
- Param/Value/-Error: If lots of texts are like that, you may have a problem with your Mods: Delete SCMRmod and SCMRlocal, and re-download them from the links above. If it is only one or two lines (say, a mission objective), report it in the comments section (in that case, please specify which language you are playing in).
- Dependency cannot be loaded: The Mods are not at the proper place. Check that you have put your Mods (SCMRmod, SCMRassets and SCMRlocal) in the "Mods" folder, as on the pictures above.
- Unable to load map: Your Maps are not at the proper place. Check that you have put the episode files such as "1. Rebel Yell" in a folder "Starcraft Mass Recall", itself to be placed in "Maps", as on the pictures above.

I got a problem with the German version 5.3. In Rebell Yell Mission 04 and 05 seem to be the same mission (both have the same filesize). When i finish 04 and choose to continue the campaign the game again loads the same mission.
Hi,I'm a Chinese player. This remake attracted me and I'm translating it now. But there are some problems which I can't solve. 1. In this 5.3 version there is no Chinese simplified language. So I used MPQEditor added the three files " GameStrings.txt, ObjectStrings.txt and TriggerStrings.txt" to the "zhCN" language.It's too Complex, and sometimes that can not work. 2. In"trigger" some maps' texts are missing (For example: Terran08S.SC2Map) ,and it makes AI can't work. Is this problem existing in other language Edition ? 3. In "Zerg02.SC2Map" file, the sound of " Brief - Talk " have echo,and the texts displayed isn't normal,but I can't find the solution. 4. In " GameStrings.txt " file , there are many Dialogues having twins, that makes the workload of translating double.Is there a solution. Who can answer my questions. thanks a lot.
Hey there! I ran into a slight problem. I played through the SC1 campaign with no trouble, all 3 episodes. However, when I started the BW campaign, right from episode 4 mission 1 ("Escape from Aiur"), I cannot load any save games. I'm kind of a noob so I'm always in need of saving and loading. When I fail in that mission and try to load a save game I made, I come up with the following message:
"the mod data loaded does not match the mod data used to originally play this game".
Edit: When I open StarCraft 2 and load up the save game right from the main menu, it does load successfully, however, once I'm already ingame and try to load a savegame, I get the message mentioned above.
I tried restarting the mission (both through the SCMR launcher menu and directly from the pause menu) but all to no avail, I'm afraid. Is there any way for me to get around it, apart from playing through without loading a save game? Any known fixes?
On a side note, a more positive one, I wanna specify that I'm loving every second of this mod, and can't thank you enough for all your hard work! Especially as someone who unfortunately didn't play StarCraft 1 back in its day, as well as Brood War. So once again, thank you!
Cant seem to get it working, when i try to open SCMRsetup i get this Unable to load 'MapInfo' from 'Untitled Map' and when i try to start a mission with the campaigh launcher i get Unable to open map. I did everything as instructed reinstalled the game, i have Hots version 2.0.6
Will there be any new models, skins, portraits etc in the new version ?

Our mod doesn't change that, and does not affect other maps in any way. Check if you didn't decrease some graphic options by accident, and if not, try to re-instal the game.
Hello people! i have a problem, i tried to uninstall the SCMR Retro mod, this caused the death animations of all units look like Starcraft 1, just when you destroy a building, but this also happens when I play online, so I decided to remove things mod, but this does not fix anything, I would like to help me to return to normal view animations of death and destruction. Help please!!!

There is a bug with the Command Center; when you lift it off and move it, a Planetary Fortress pops out from it for a second. (I use the Retro mod). It is not a big deal but maybe it can be fixed in the future
i do every thing but the message Unable to open map did not disappear can some one help me
I noticed that the infested command center and the Engineering bay level the ground underneath them while in flight. This causes a lot of lag while the two buildings are flying somewhere.

When I'm trying to install it in battle.net I get a message "The launch of this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available." I have googled around a bit but can't find a fix for it.
Anyone got any ideas?
UPDATE After I reinstalled SC2 the 3 time it worked. =P
Today after finishing "Egression" mission in Episode II, I started playing next mission, "The New Dominion". But this mission doesn't appear in campaign menu. Is it known issue or is it something wrong with my game? I have to say while I was playing Episode I, all missions were shown in campaign menu correctly.

Ive followed the directions of installation to the beat and have repeated around 4-5 times because each time after I install it I get a "Unable to open map". I dont know what to do anymore. Can I get some help or feedback please.

Overall quite excellent. I'm glad to see you guys are still supporting it after all this time. The recent love to the vanilla Protoss campaign is especially welcome.
Some bug reports for you:
-Cinematic version skips protoss 07: homeland after the Return to Aiur cinematic, and goes right to 08: Trial of Tassadar
-Scourge not selected by F2 army select
-Goliath's weapon arcs are 20-something instead of 0, probably a remnant of the twin firing upgrade in WoL. (Edit- changing it back to zero didn't change the fact that it'd still shoot at wide angles. For some reason the turret wasn't turning, so a temporary solution was to remove the turret reference from the combat info. Also, the muzzle flare graphic was appearing behind the barrels for the autocannon for some reason)
-Hallucination does nothing when cast on Vulture Raynor.
-Hallucinations of cloaked units seem undetectable; enemy cannons didn't shoot them. Tried with Zeratul, observers, and dark templar.
-Hallucinations of hero units have hero icons in the bottom right.
-Some localization issues: the buttons in the launcher map started out fine but later became "param/value...." I deleted the US-eng locale in the editor and it went back to normal. some hotkeys missing, "unload all" on shuttle for example. Checked editor and it was listed, though. Edit- the Shuttle had two copies of the Load-Unload ability, and deleting one allowed me to rebind the hotkey, but not without unbinding D as the hotkey for other unload abilities. I get a similar issue with not being able to bind both burrow and unburrow to R. So dunno if localizations are causing the missing hotkeys in the first place.
-Double models/actors created for Scouts, as Lyambda noted below.
-Reaver attacks still a bit wonky, like trying to fire up and down cliffs. Maybe add a pathing distance validator? Also the scarabs freeze if the target dies in route. Maybe make them acquire a new target if that happens?
-I seem to remember shield batteries recharging faster in sc1, but I could be wrong.
-In vanilla Terran 09 there's a mineral patch at the bottom right Protoss base owned by player 10 instead of 0 (neutral).
-In Protoss 08x there an old version of the defiler at coords (70, 170)
-I get strange artifact tearing graphics errors when sunken colonies attack. Could be my old, dying vid card.
-Debuff models (ensnare, maybe others) on Carriers seem to linger at the point of cast rather than follow the carrier after it moves.
-Valkyrie weapon splash can hit enemy missiles.
-Infested Terran get movement speed buff on creep
-A missile upgrade seems to be giving Lurkers +2 dmg to small
-On Zerg 05x True Colors, the Terrans hardly attacked me at all despite launching my sneak attack against the Protoss. In fact, I think the Protoss attacked me more with what they had left. I have the replay if desired.
-By the looks of the data editor, Devourer debuff wont hit cloaked units, even if visible. Should be set to visibility required rather than cloak excluded, but while we're on the topic, I thought i remember the Devourer spore specifically REVEALING cloaked units in brood war.
-Corsair had two of the radius's for splash damage mixed up on the small damage, the splash hits friendlies, and the weapon is using a phoenix turret, allowing it to fire at enemies at any angle.
Will post more as I find it. Again though, great job. Really captures the feel of sc1.
I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I noticed the science vessel's model was stretched a little on the Y axis.
