StarCraft: Mass Recall
StarCraft: Mass Recall (SCMR) is a project that recreates the classic StarCraft and Brood War gameplay as well as the entire single-player campaigns within the StarCraft II engine. StarCraft: Mass Recall contains 68 maps, 59 from the original StarCraft/Brood War game, 3 that were hidden or deleted on various StarCraft supports, and 6 from the 1998 demo campaign.
You need to have StarCraft II installed in order to play the Mod. StarCraft II is free-to-play, you can download the game client from the StarCraft II Official Game Site.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER: This Mod and all campaign files are free. This means, all who work on Mass Recall are putting their free time into an incredibly comprehensive remaster of all of StarCraft and Brood War, including entirely new custom campaigns such as the Stukov Series and Enslavers Redux. Thus, there should be absolutely no expectations that bug fixes or new features will be released in any sort of timely manner. This is a "we'll get to it when we get to it" situation. Please be aware the modders here have work lives, family lives, and simply do not have the energy to maintain a lively work cycle to keep the Mod 100% up to date. We do promise we will release updates when we feel they are ready to be released. We hope that you understand our position on this.

Installation
“Uh... how do you work this damn thing?” – Marine
Auto-Installation
(for Windows, if you're using Mac follow the manual installation guide below)
For a fresh auto-install please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the SCMR installer and the required files (see the "Downloads" section above).
2. Move all downloaded ZIP-Files and unzip the installer to your StarCraft II installation directory. The default path to it is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\".
3. Run the installer.
4. After SCMR is successfully installed, use the shortcut on your Desktop to run SCMR.
Auto install video guide by DeltronLive
Note that this is for an older version, just make sure you have all the latest required files specified in the "Downloads" section above, otherwise the process is the same.
Manual Installation
If auto-install fails and/or you would like to manually install SCMR, please carefully follow these steps:
1. Download the required file sets (see the "Downloads" section above). For StarCraft: Mass Recall to work properly you need to download the Campaign Maps - that are bundled with the Main Mod (SCMRmod) and a "dummy" Cinematics Mod (SCMRcinematics) - as well as the Assets Mod (SCMRassets) and a Localization Mod (SCMRlocal).
2. Then extract all ZIP-Files to a folder of your choice. The extracted folder should look like graphic [1] below.
3. Now, open your StarCraft II installation directory where the StarCraft II.exe (WIN) or .app (MAC) is located. Per default this is on your primary C: drive under "Program Files (x86)" (WIN) or "Applications" (MAC). The standard paths to the StarCraft II installation directory are shown below.
Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II"
Mac OSX: "Macintosh HD/Applications/StarCraft II"
The StarCraft II installation directory should look similar to graphic [2] below. Note that you may need to create the "Maps" folder here if it does not already exist. Then move the folder called "Starcraft Mass Recall" (with lowercase "c") from the extracted folder to the "Maps" folder within your StarCraft II installation directory. The "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [3] below.
4. Next, move the "Mods" folder from the extracted folder into the StarCraft II installation directory (the same place as the "Maps" folder). Your "Mods" folder should now have four Mod files and resemble graphic [4] above.
5. While your newly placed "Starcraft Mass Recall" folder within the "Maps" folder should now look like graphic [5] below.
Other (older) manual installation guides:
- Step-by-step Installation Guide (English)
- Installations-Handbuch (Deutsch)
Alternative ways to play
If the above doesn't work for you, first and foremost make sure that:
- you have all the necessary files in the right directories
- you've set the correct paths for the shortcut
- you're running the latest version of StarCraft II
Alternative way to play without the shortcut:
- locate SC2Switcher.exe in the Support folder (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Support
- locate the SCMR Campaign Launcher file in (your StarCraft II installation directory)/Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall
- drag and drop the SCMR Campaign Launcher file to SC2Switcher.exe
If you wish to play while logged on to Battle.net, you will need to take the following steps:
- Launch StarCraft II using the Battle.net launcher
- Alt-tab to Desktop
- Launch StarCraft: Mass Recall using the created shortcut
Note that you can still save and load any SCMR map, as long as you're logged in.
Bonus Campaign - Enslavers Redux Installation
ZIP Download - https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall/files/3246278
This file includes a new 30-mission extra bonus campaign "Enslavers Redux" by OmegaWeaponX! This series contains 4 episodes, with 9 unique maps per Terran, Protoss, and Zerg races, with 3 epilogue maps. Content and story is based on the original Enslavers custom maps in StarCraft and Dark Vengeance maps in Brood War. Features brand new dialog and story, missions, and enhanced heroes with their own level-up mechanics! Learn what happens between the major StarCraft episodes and the events leading up to StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty!
While this custom campaign can be played stand-alone by opening up the unique Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launching missions from there, it is also integrated into Mass Recall via the "Extras" menu. In order to load it properly in for the Mass Recall Launcher to work with this campaign, follow these instructions:
- Download the above ZIP-file containing Enslavers Redux
- Go into your StarCraft II folder -> SCMR Mass Recall -> Extras:
- Within Extras, place your ZIP-file, then uncompress it there. You should have a folder that says 8. Enslavers Redux. It should look like this now:
- You've got Enslavers Redux installed! Now from the SCMR Campaign Launcher go to Extras and click on the Enslavers Redux menu panel. You can launch any mission from here or open the Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launch missions from there!
Please note - This campaign has no unique audio for voices and as such it is required that subtitles are enabled in order to actually read what transmissions are saying :)

Troubleshooting
“I swear it's always some damn thing.” – Joeyray
Make sure to check out the auto install and manual install video guides also linked above. The end result in these videos is the same, regardless of install method.
Also make sure you're using an up-to-date version of StarCraft II.
Common issues:
- Param/Value/-Error: If lots of texts are like that, you may have a problem with your Mods: Delete SCMRmod and SCMRlocal, and re-download them from the links above. If it is only one or two lines (say, a mission objective), report it in the comments section (in that case, please specify which language you are playing in).
- Dependency cannot be loaded: The Mods are not at the proper place. Check that you have put your Mods (SCMRmod, SCMRassets and SCMRlocal) in the "Mods" folder, as on the pictures above.
- Unable to load map: Your Maps are not at the proper place. Check that you have put the episode files such as "1. Rebel Yell" in a folder "Starcraft Mass Recall", itself to be placed in "Maps", as on the pictures above.

Telenil and Mass Recall Team,
Can you guys at the end of this page put in a little blurb about the Custom Campaign Initiative. I feel like folks who play Mass Recall would love to play some of the Custom campaigns made by this community. I was one of them!!
Where is the paypal link!??! You guys should be getting money for this!! I know it is hard to split up, but what about getting Blizzcon tickets for the Mass Recall team or everyone gets a Curse Premium account, perhaps a case of beer or a copy of Legacy of the Void if that ever comes out!! :):)
Hello, first of all this is an amazing work that i'm enjoying so much! The question i have is : since the previous version was in italian, is this one in italian too? Because i can undestand english well but i think it will be more enjoyable for me in italian :D Thanks
@JimmyP84 I had the same problem, simply you have to extract the maps in "StarCraft II\Maps\Starcraft Mass Recall" . this should fix your problem :D
I think I did everything you guys said, and it definitely didn't take me just 2 minutes. I launched the setup thru the editor, I did the saving bit and everything, and it still doesn't work. I keep getting the same message when I hit the install button - 'unable to open map'. What am I doing wrong?
hi i had that zergling dome problem then i saw it was because it was for the wings of liberty version, which u no longer support, then i got a link for this mass recall so i downloaded it, and it won't work now... "unable to open map"
i used the install guide to install it (just in case there if there were any changes with the installation, and yes, there were)
i don't know what to do
the older versions work with some little bugs like that zergling problem, but other than that, it's fine
my game is pirated, so probably there are no updates, and it means offline playing (but as far as i read it correctly, it should not be a problem, i mean the offline playing)
@Telenil: Go
It works, but sometimes, when I finish any of the missions, I get a black screen instead. Does it happen if you use cheat codes? Was testing the game.
@Black_Nazarene_1998: Go
Your SCMRmod.sc2mod needs to be put directly in Starcraft II/Mods. Don't leave it in any other folder.
I really need to update that installation guide.
I get the following error when I attempt to play any missions of the mod: "The launch of this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available.". So how do I fix that error? I downloaded a fix for the main game, not for the mod. I tried reinstalling the game and even removing battle.net app.
Hi Telenil, I'm a new user in sc2mapster so I have to say something about the bugs that occur in every episode's mission such as param value in the subtitles, score screen doesn't appear in the omega mission in episode 6 and other minor bugs in the other maps. Please update and fix the maps and also update both the standard and retro mod because I heard that there are new models in the assets section of sc2mapster such as thrikodias' team colored circle of power and taylormouse's heroes of the storm Raynor model. Also, can you add the precursor campaign because it is prologue of StarCraft before the events of episode 1 and it is considered canon so that is all. Thank you:-)
@GeneralSezme: Go
Thanks, I'll try to fix some of this before the next update. This Aldaris portrait is used in the Retro edition, there is currently no plan to use in the standard mod.
I have discovered a few bugs, on mission 5 of episode 4 on hard difficulty if you merge archons as the you destroy a generator it won't disappear, as intended for hard difficulty.
This is Cosmetic but in episode 4 protoss buildings have a portrait of Fenix, not Aldaris. And also it would be awesome if you guys got a better portrait for Aldaris, it looks like he has a uni brow and is frowning with the shadows of his helmet and his eyes. http://imgur.com/Rf1MT2u
Mechanically I think i would be cool if you could add patrol micro, as scourges make mission 5 episode 3 very hard Also, mass muta seems to strong with unlimited selection, probably made episode 2 easy for me
edit episode 4 mission 8, you can build ON the Xel' naga temple, you put a no fly zone on it, but no pathing or building http://imgur.com/gWy50MH If you do fix this, fix it on mission 3 as well because you can build on that temple as well.
Goliath and corsair do not face their targets when they attack Archons glide to a halt when you tell them to stop, Dark Archons stop on a dime Sunken colonies have a attack delay, in BW it would attack instantly and deal damage instantly, a speedlot can go in a Sunkens ranges trigger it attack but not get hit if it goes out of range again because it did not stay in it range long enough for the attack delay.
Edit Episode 5 mission 3, killing hive does not actually shut down a.i to where they cant attack. Not sure if this is intended. because in BW they couldn't attack after the hive was destroyed
Edit floating nuke on Emperors fall [Ground Zero] http://imgur.com/SYsrQnQ Fix the mission briefing on mission 9 episode 3 http://imgur.com/KnDpyzj also many missions, when your hero dies, it says param value http://imgur.com/eInIixx I killed Zeratul, and that's what happens
Edit mission 2 episode 6 in the introduction cutscene http://imgur.com/rLjkVwo
I still haven't completed the whole thing yet so i will edit this as i go, I'm playing all missions on hard
@viperciyes: Go
If you see the list of levels, you have launched the Launcher, not the Setup.
ok. The previous one was my mistake. I hit F10 and got to the save menu. Now I saved it, restarted starcraft II, loaded it via Campaign menu. But, there is no Install button. I just get the picture and levels on the right side. Any ideas?
Hi everyone,
stuck in this step: "when you're at the setup screen, save the game"
I hit test document button, the game loads, and I can see the list of levels/maps. How will I save it there? there are no save buttons. Also, when I click on one of the games and hit play, it says unable to open the map. Hope you can help me. By the way, congrats to whoever thought about such a mod and anyone who contributed. shame on blizzard..
And only half hour later I solved it! Not sure if this will work for others that have been having this problem but merely extracting the files into your game location is not enough. You have to make sure it goes Starcraft2>Maps>Starcraft Mass Recall
Not Starcraft2>Maps>SCMRMaps
You have to removed that folder from SCMR Maps and put it in the maps root folder.
Hey there, I've been having the "Unable to open map" error as well. I'm really looking forward to playing the BW campaign on here but haven't been able to get a map to load after the launcher. I can get the launcher to run fine from the editor but every time I try to load the save in SC2 or just use the editor, it says "unable to open map" and crashes.
Any advice? I have my starcraft 2 installed on my D: drive and not the C: drive, would this cause an error? It hasn't before.
Anyway, any sort of help would be very appreciated. I'll be checking back.
I already played episodes 1-3 and all was fine but at the first mission in episode 4 it was bugged in other missions of episode 4 its fine too.
great job with the remake i have enjoyed it a lot :D I hope u guys to make the remake of the Precursor Campaign.
You can save and reload while logged in from Battle.net, but it requires following the install instructions such that you'll be running Mass Recall in Battle.net and not the Galaxy Editor. Basically, load up the setup map, save the game, then navigate to where the save file is and move it to your specific accounts save folder instead. Then log into Battle.net and it will be there when you try to load a save. The setup file will then load into the launcher and you can save again to access the launcher anytime from Bnet. As long as you're logged onto Bnet like this when playing, then you can save and reload your progress in the middle of any of the missions. Further, it's way easier to start MR this way than through the editor every single time.
Maybe a little too detailed.
@thunderstorm28: Go
You can't reload from Battle.net. You gotta start a new game through the editor and can reload from there.
Hi guys! First of all, thanks for this remake! It is just... AWESOME!! You have done a great work here!! Now we are just waiting for Legacy of the Void to come out!!
Just one thing. Some voices in the last mission of Episode 6 (where you fight against Mengsk, Artanis and DuGalle) does not appear. It says something like PARAM/0x000001. Also when I finish the mission, I don't see the final stats, I just see a black screen with the victory song.
My SCII version is updated to date, and I downloaded all Mods and Maps like 3 days ago. If you could fix that, it would be great!
Thanks again!!
