Starcraft 2: Odyssey Campaign

Introduction
Odyssey is my first attempt at creating a Starcraft 2 project consisting of a multi-act campaign set in the Kardyan Quadrant... far away from the Koprulu Sector. Played from the Terran point of view of Captain Jared Harsh of the Marine Ground Forces: Hell's Rejects, Act I focuses on his struggles throughout the battle-scorned planet Duros III. Act II, on the other hand, is a direct sequel delving deeper into the Kardyan Quadrant and events started in the previous act.
Featuring high-quality terraining with some decent writing accompanying, Odyssey hopes to push forward the storytelling capabilities of a custom campaign with its long-length cutscenes and additional lore to the Starcraft universe. As storytelling alone won't make a videogame, the gameplay, despite not being the true focus, can still present fresh mechanics and unique situations.
Both Acts are comprised of 14 missions each.
How to Install and Play
- Locate the Maps folder inside your Starcraft II installation directory and create within it a folder named Odyssey.
- Place all the missions and launcher files inside it.
- Initiate the Starcraft II editor and then load the launcher file.
- On the editor go to File > Test Document.
- Follow the launcher's instructions and enjoy.

History of the Kardyan Quadrant
Departing from Earth, thousands of Terrans constituted the Second Exodus about ten years after the Exile of the “dissidents” who would come to crash-land on the Koprulu Sector. The members of the Second Exodus eventually arrived at the Kardyan Quadrant where they started expanding and thriving. Colonizing the Earth-like planet of Parsya and declaring it the Capital World, the quadrant became theirs. Over the decades, backwater planets and moons became increasingly aggravated with the burdening taxations employed by the Commerce Guilds of Parsya. Unable to sustain those taxations, the colonists abandoned the Parsyan Collective and settled on remote and poor systems where Parsya had no interests. There, they took the name, Exodian Clans.
The Parsyan government, shaken by the sudden loss of manpower on the outlying planets, deployed a massive funding into the Research Divisions. Such, allowed for the creation of a new artificial intelligence capable of self-learning, far more advanced than the average Adjutant. Built into manlike androids, later called Synthetics, the outlying planets were populated with them to serve as Parsya’s workforce. As their artificial minds were evolved upon with the passing generations, eventually, the Series 3 began showing signs of free-will, being capable of choosing to ignore orders given by humans. The Parsyan Collective, afraid of a possible synthetic rebellion, amassed all its military power under control of seven of the highest-ranking Admirals and Generals, unofficially named, the Steel Council. The amassed power of the Parsyan military became known as the Federation of Warfare, a force to be reckoned with. To their surprise, the Synthetics did not wish ill upon humanity and instead chose to leave Parsyan controlled space much like the Exodian Clans had done decades before. They were never heard from again. Fearing that they would one day change their minds or the possibility of an invasion by the Exodian Clans, Parsya kept expanding the Federation of Warfare and forbade the research into artificial intelligence, and even, the use of Adjutants.
As the decades went by, Parsya outgrew itself in power and economy but also in greed. The unforgivable event later named the Powering Strife led the Federation of Warfare into detaching itself from Parsya and declaring independence under command of Admiral Cassius Rourke who took the mantle of Grand Marshal. Head of the Steel Council and supreme commander of the Federation. The Parsyan Collective, aware of the threat the Federation posed, began sinking its economy into buying the loyalty of some of the Federation’s divisions and commanders and even hiring mercenary armies from the Exodian Clans. The two forces clashed and the Powering Wars lasted for five years, ending with the troubled invasion but inevitable fall of Parsya. At the Post-War Peace Treaty of 2490, it was determined that the surviving Parsyans would be restricted to their crumbled planet in agreement that the Federation could never again set foot there. As the Federation of Warfare became the unchallenged power in the Kardyan Quadrant, ten years of peace flourished.
On the 23rd of March 2500, the miners of the Planet Duros III began a rebellion against the Federation of Warfare for the deplorable conditions they were set to work on. Now, less than forty-eight hours later, the peacekeeping Battlecruisers Heimdall and Pegasus arrive at the planet with orders to restore control.

Special Thanks
To my friend Hélio for creating the Odyssey logo and tempering with the hero icons and to Marco and Vanda for putting up with me when I wouldn't shut up about the story. Also, thanks to JayborinoPlays and DeltronLive for showcasing Odyssey on their youtube channels and to everyone who enjoys this and thinks I'm bothering myself with something cool.
Lastly, a big thank you to the guys from Firestorm Project for their work and effort to translate the whole thing to Russian.
Concerning Donations
The donate button can be found around the upper right area on the top of this page. Donations are entirely optional and won't impact the development of the campaign in any way. They are only meant to serve as a show of appreciation for my work other than reviews.
There's really no way I can answer that. I only work on Odyssey in my spare time and it depends on a lot of things. I'd like to have the next three missions out sometime this year but that's only possible because two of them are on platforms which takes less time to make due to a lot of the terrain being empty space.
I replay all missions the 2nd time and once again I am convinced that this is a masterpiece. Everything is just perfect! Where you from bro?
Portugal. Cheers for the praise. The best of the campaign is still to come.
Mission 8!!!!
Yes, my boy! It has arisen!
Act II - Mission 8 isn't available for download yet?
Still having the various difficulties implemented.
I just finished the 7 missions of act 2, and what i have to say is that it rises to the expectations of first act, no errors encountered, same quality of difficulty, same good gameplay, and i think the cutscenes except for missions7 end are shorter to my happiness but still high quality.
This campaign is sure to be in my top3 custom campaigns and i just hope to see the finish of it.
Great to know but sadly for you, like in Act I, the missions ahead will have their cutscenes increase in duration. Forgive me.
hi i have a report about a bug in clipped wing act 1 after the timer end the civilen wont go insde the transport and the game gets bugged
It's working fine for me. I do remember having that bug but it was an older version of the files. Can you be a bit more specific. What difficulty were you on? What was the transport that bugged? Were you playing through the arcade or editor? Stuff like that.
In reply to CooperHawkesOdyssey:
Same as aykayle, this happened to me yesterday and I couldn't finish the mission. It happened on Normal difficulty right after the first APC timer runs out, the civilians just group up in front of the APC and can't enter. I played it via editor. I'd like to see what happens next in the mission, though, I played it in 2016 and I noticed you've changed it. :)
Anyways, the campaign is brilliant, especially the storyline and characters are very well written, good job and keep up the good work. :)
Hey man, COVID 19 convinced me to work through all the custom SC2 Campaigns that interested me.... and DAMN! I truly, truly give you prop's for creating a masterpiece. Out of the 5 or so campaigns I have done so far this one is BY FAR the best. I cannot provide enough praise for the music, mission design and story. I honestly believe you've made a campaign worthy of the original SC and Broodwar story - I usually skip all cutscenes in custom campaigns due to hilariously atrocious dialogue but here I am interested in watching and seeing what happens.
I just wanted to leave my props and congratulate you on a seriously well done job. I play most the missions on Brutal but have been taking... ahh.. advantage of the rewind feature. These missions can be VERY difficult, which I absolutely love. I do have issues with some, but nothing major. Too many missions and campaigns on Mapster hold your hand and I'd rather have severe difficulty than none at all. I'm currently on mission 10 with plans to finish the entire campaign by Monday.
Again, seriously nice job. I wanted to give me thoughts on each mission, but didn't want to spoil things for new players or seem weird... lol.
Thanks for the praise. Good to know you're enjoying so much but only halfway through the existing missions. Keep in mind there's a part in mission 1 of Act II where you play as a drone and apparently the rewind completely bugs it.
I have a question. I want to do my own custom campaign ( not in SC2 but in Warcraft 3). But my question is: Did you write stuff down and do complex notes or did you do everything from head and do only mental notes? And ( one more question appeared in my head): Did you have any trick how to put content in missions? I mean story wise.
I am asking you, because i think that you are great and you can give some really good advice.( I am sorry for any grammar mistakes, I am polish. And if somewhere i sounded impolite I am sorry too)
Well, I planned all the plot before starting the campaign because I think it's vital and prevents the creator from writing himself into a corner. Most of it is made of mental notes but I did need to loosely sketch it to make sure everything fitted and also know where to place what pieces of information on which missions. Every time I start working on a new mission, I have a decent idea of what the layout will be and what will happen. Still, most of it is figured out as I go. How it starts and how it ends, is easy... the fun in the middle is what takes more time to elaborate. Stuff like the bonus objective and its reward tends to be harder to do as I still don't know what to do with it on most of the missions left. I suggest you focus on creating a good storyline. The better the storyline, the richer and more diversified the missions will become. Good luck.

Man, thank you so much!! I am a type that worries a lot and I was thinking that I wrote something impolite or something, and that you will not respond.
And I was shocked when i saw that you did. I really appreciate your advice. It is not based on cliche lines, but on your personal experience. But the most important about it is fact that it really helps and it has a point.
I am really grateful. I wish you good luck both in your personal live and in making Odyssey. Keep this good work up! (Again I am sorry for any grammar mistakes)
i just finished first act. what can i say! the story is so deep and complex that you almost loose yourself in it :). the only thing up to now i disliked a bit is the end cinematics of every mission which are quite long. i need to bring popcorn to watch them :). but i understand that they are needed to explain the story, so i'm not sure what to recommend doing. what i want most is to see a finished project, so i hope you will have time and can do it, because it would be a pity to finish the 7 missions of act 2 and just leave all like that. Please finish the campaign without lossing the quality level but dont rush it, you could release a mission once every 2-3 months. But its up to you, how you could see this done the best.
Thank you for your campaign and please notify us about the status of the project!
Good luck!
Yes, the cutscenes are long and are indeed necessary to fully explain the story but know that a lot gets cut to shorten them. All of Odyssey would be even bigger if I included everything that I wanted. As for Act II, the completion rate is very slow but can't really quicken it. Despite the global pandemic I'm still active at my day job as normal. Thanks for the praise.
In reply to CooperHawkesOdyssey:
Is there a chance you will release some kind of a script/short novel or even just some notes with details that didn't/won't cut into final result?
I think many of us would like to have all the lore we can get.
