Starcraft 2: Odyssey Campaign

Introduction
Odyssey is my first attempt at creating a Starcraft 2 project consisting of a multi-act campaign set in the Kardyan Quadrant... far away from the Koprulu Sector. Played from the Terran point of view of Captain Jared Harsh of the Marine Ground Forces: Hell's Rejects, Act I focuses on his struggles throughout the battle-scorned planet Duros III. Act II, on the other hand, is a direct sequel delving deeper into the Kardyan Quadrant and events started in the previous act.
Featuring high-quality terraining with some decent writing accompanying, Odyssey hopes to push forward the storytelling capabilities of a custom campaign with its long-length cutscenes and additional lore to the Starcraft universe. As storytelling alone won't make a videogame, the gameplay, despite not being the true focus, can still present fresh mechanics and unique situations.
Both Acts are comprised of 14 missions each.
How to Install and Play
- Locate the Maps folder inside your Starcraft II installation directory and create within it a folder named Odyssey.
- Place all the missions and launcher files inside it.
- Initiate the Starcraft II editor and then load the launcher file.
- On the editor go to File > Test Document.
- Follow the launcher's instructions and enjoy.

History of the Kardyan Quadrant
Departing from Earth, thousands of Terrans constituted the Second Exodus about ten years after the Exile of the “dissidents” who would come to crash-land on the Koprulu Sector. The members of the Second Exodus eventually arrived at the Kardyan Quadrant where they started expanding and thriving. Colonizing the Earth-like planet of Parsya and declaring it the Capital World, the quadrant became theirs. Over the decades, backwater planets and moons became increasingly aggravated with the burdening taxations employed by the Commerce Guilds of Parsya. Unable to sustain those taxations, the colonists abandoned the Parsyan Collective and settled on remote and poor systems where Parsya had no interests. There, they took the name, Exodian Clans.
The Parsyan government, shaken by the sudden loss of manpower on the outlying planets, deployed a massive funding into the Research Divisions. Such, allowed for the creation of a new artificial intelligence capable of self-learning, far more advanced than the average Adjutant. Built into manlike androids, later called Synthetics, the outlying planets were populated with them to serve as Parsya’s workforce. As their artificial minds were evolved upon with the passing generations, eventually, the Series 3 began showing signs of free-will, being capable of choosing to ignore orders given by humans. The Parsyan Collective, afraid of a possible synthetic rebellion, amassed all its military power under control of seven of the highest-ranking Admirals and Generals, unofficially named, the Steel Council. The amassed power of the Parsyan military became known as the Federation of Warfare, a force to be reckoned with. To their surprise, the Synthetics did not wish ill upon humanity and instead chose to leave Parsyan controlled space much like the Exodian Clans had done decades before. They were never heard from again. Fearing that they would one day change their minds or the possibility of an invasion by the Exodian Clans, Parsya kept expanding the Federation of Warfare and forbade the research into artificial intelligence, and even, the use of Adjutants.
As the decades went by, Parsya outgrew itself in power and economy but also in greed. The unforgivable event later named the Powering Strife led the Federation of Warfare into detaching itself from Parsya and declaring independence under command of Admiral Cassius Rourke who took the mantle of Grand Marshal. Head of the Steel Council and supreme commander of the Federation. The Parsyan Collective, aware of the threat the Federation posed, began sinking its economy into buying the loyalty of some of the Federation’s divisions and commanders and even hiring mercenary armies from the Exodian Clans. The two forces clashed and the Powering Wars lasted for five years, ending with the troubled invasion but inevitable fall of Parsya. At the Post-War Peace Treaty of 2490, it was determined that the surviving Parsyans would be restricted to their crumbled planet in agreement that the Federation could never again set foot there. As the Federation of Warfare became the unchallenged power in the Kardyan Quadrant, ten years of peace flourished.
On the 23rd of March 2500, the miners of the Planet Duros III began a rebellion against the Federation of Warfare for the deplorable conditions they were set to work on. Now, less than forty-eight hours later, the peacekeeping Battlecruisers Heimdall and Pegasus arrive at the planet with orders to restore control.

Special Thanks
To my friend Hélio for creating the Odyssey logo and tempering with the hero icons and to Marco and Vanda for putting up with me when I wouldn't shut up about the story. Also, thanks to JayborinoPlays and DeltronLive for showcasing Odyssey on their youtube channels and to everyone who enjoys this and thinks I'm bothering myself with something cool.
Lastly, a big thank you to the guys from Firestorm Project for their work and effort to translate the whole thing to Russian.
Concerning Donations
The donate button can be found around the upper right area on the top of this page. Donations are entirely optional and won't impact the development of the campaign in any way. They are only meant to serve as a show of appreciation for my work other than reviews.
Something that would be really handy for this campaign would be a Patch Notes page so we can see what changes have been made. I noticed Act 02 has been reuploaded a few hours ago despite me picking me up the new missions a few days ago and I have no idea what's new in the update or even if it's worth picking up again.
In reply to dudkisc2:
I agree, at least a short description would be very handy.
Too much work guys as most times it's loads of changes but pretty much insignificant stuff. In this case it did matter as missions 9 and 10 had several upgrades with wrong costs and two of them were even costless.
In reply to CooperHawkesOdyssey:
Short mention of most significant changes is enough, I'd say.
"mostly launcher", "only missions 9-10 got significant changes", etc.
Or even "no significant changes" - this is useful information too.
What are the changes in the first act?
An excellent question, to be sure.
It's not even noticeable. Really no point mentioning it. Main reason why Act I gets reuploaded is to update the launcher in it with the new missions.
Has anyone beat Act 1 - Mission 4 (Unwanted Guests) on Brutal difficulty? Any tips for the start of the macro section?
Been loving the campaign so far btw. The challenge is quite refreshing. I get that most people don't like to ever have to restart a mission due to losing, but am glad the difficulties were implemented the way they were.
That being said, I am not very good at the game, but can usually make do once I know what to expect but haven't been able to with mission 4 yet. Any strats would be appreciated, thanks.
Really hope you're playing through the editor so you can use saving/loading. I did that mission years ago. I think I kept moving the Marines I had between the bunkers on whatever side was about to be attacked until I finished setting a three bunker defense on each bridge. The hard part is handling the Vikings that drop in your base. You need to memorize where and at what times they drop so you can move all your available forces to start hitting them before they land. Ignore the bonus objective as it will distract you for too long.
In reply to CooperHawkesOdyssey:
Hey thanks for the response, and nice to hear someone had success. I hadn't specifically tried that strat you mentioned, but makes sense. Also, yeah 3 bunkers per entrance is probably smart, as 2 full ones didn't seem to be enough.
A bit after posting my comment, I retried after bumping difficulty down to hard and was still having a bit of trouble. Until I ended up salvaging all 4 bunkers you start with and building 3 close-ish together towards the center of base.
Having the bunkers away from the bridges actually completely nullifies the tanks, they just sit there, which felt like a sort of cheap way to win. Only was shot by them when moving army in front of bunkers a bit too far. But on brutal, the tanks weren't my main struggle tho, it was getting setup fast enough without taking too much damage, and sparing APM for the viking harass. Will try again tho.
Will we get an Act III or Act II really is the finale? I wanna see a third act but I understand how much this weighs on you for even just making one map so it's fine if you don't. This is already probably the best custom campaign out there with having so much variety to its missions and map design plus a superb story that keeps people excited for more!
I never thought I'd get to finish Act I and much less get to be four missions shy of finishing Act II. Don't know if I'll start or finish it but yeah, there's an Act III planned which is Odyssey's last one.
when will the release i think it is soon is it cooper?
They should be released this week.
jayborino is going to play act 2 mission 9 but you did not uploaded it yet is it coming today?
Jay gets the missions directly from me before release. It's been like that since 2015. He made Odyssey known to a lot of people so he gets to do his showcase ahead of others.
cooper odyssey is my second best custom campaign I have ever played the first one is Invicta it has two things odyssey do not have one is you play as protoss with a hero unit and conquer other lands second is when you conquer a place your allies built another base there like bunkers or turrets can your other missions could have something I do not say that you must or if you do not want to add.
I am just giving a advice to be in your campaign so that it will be much more challenging like when your allies conquer that place and build fortification than your enemies take and build fortifications
do you know how to do such things like that or can you do something like that.
I know I right a lot sorry for that I just want to say these to be good. If you do not want to do it it is fine :D
Odyssey will have a lot of Protoss but no gameplay as them. It's a Terran centered campaign despite a few missions played as Zerg.
I do intend to have a future mission where the mechanic revolves around the enemy being aggressive at rebuilding and trying to keep recovering ground that they've lost. However, I don't think that Odyssey missions need to be more challenging or last longer than they already do.
In reply to CooperHawkesOdyssey:
I'm going to agree. Even casual can be somewhat difficult.
hello cooper are the upcoming missions of yours does they have cinematics like on the mission on act one ''how big they are...'' and I hope the campaign is going well I hope to play it on fall 2021 at least. But you do not need to hurry i have plenty of time and do not die of covid 19 before sending the other missions :D ( I am just joking by the way)
