First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Also, players will have the option to disable all BW tech - including medics - in the first three episodes, aka the vanilla campaigns.
And yeah, we're releasing the update this month. Release date to be confirmed Soon.
@Telenil: Go
I'll get back to you shortly. :p
@ Telenil
The medic thing makes sense. Looking forward to the release.
@Lyambda: Go
Because it makes Terran infantry useful, for starters. Without them, you can't stim or assault a base with infantry. As far as the plot goes, the Confederacy did bring medics with their soldiers, though of course they didn't have the advanced healing technology of the UED. The way we chose to implement this, UED medics heal at the original 7hp/s while non-UED medics heal at 3hp/s. Only the UED have access to Resoration, Caduceus Reactor and the like.
Although there is no denying it is a change, we don't feel it's that bad from a lore point of view - we merely modeled "lesser" medics when the origin game didn't. On the other hand, there couldn't be any equivalent to Valkyries in the Korpulu Sector, so they were not put in Rebel Yell.
FYI, I'm currently spamming Jones to confirm a release date. Good news should come soon.
Hi! Tell me why medics added to the original Starcraft episode if they appear on the plot as Valkyrie, along with a fleet UED?
@Miles07
Great that's reassuring! I'm really looking forward to experiencing the campagins again.
I was thinking about doing another SC and BW playthroughs soon to play the story again, since I really like it. And lo, suddenly I discovered this project, what a happy coincidence.
@Kerricun7: Go
This means that you could technically play with the Brood War tech tree in Melee maps, any map you want. The campaign itself will still require the maps to be downloaded, but the actual mod will still be required, so there's nothing to worry about. It just means that there will be a lot more multiplayer options open!
@Telenil
Hey guys, I read your latest update on the TeamLiquid site. You mention something about acquiring the campaign as a Battle.net extension. Does that mean we won't able to download it in sc2mapster and play offline?
Thanks in advance.
Hey guys. I downloaded all the recent files, but when i click the "test document" button within the map editor, it loads the map, and ingame after about 2-3 seconds it crashes and goes back to the main screen, saying "Unable to open map"
Any tip what should i do to make it work?
Thanks for your time.
I was able to get in the game, press play. The map was loading for 2 sec then pop up this "the launch of this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which is no longer available" and the screen gone completely into darkness

Should be in your StarCraft II folder under Support, file named SC2Editor.exe
..\StarCraft II\Support\SC2Editor.exe
I've downloaded everything but I can't find StarCraft 2 map editor.exe. the .exe part is missing for it, can anyone help please?

No, we have different jobs and never met in real life. What I meant is that we had, coincidentally, a surge of work in our respective workplaces at about the same time. I believe we were both students when the project began.
@Telenil, so are you and Joonas co-workers now at a job?
@allan63: Go
I felt the same way about the early missions, so yes, they have been made a little harder. Still nowhere near as challenging as the final missions, but you should feel a difference.
We won't be remaking the map in a different way, for several reasons, the most important one being that Joonas and I now have a job that take considerable amount of our time (and are the reasons for which the update wasn't released three months ago). We would never be able to start an other project of this magnitude, even if we wanted to. Fixing the bugs that will inevitably appear over time will be more than enough.
We appreciate every review and comment :)
I really enjoy these campaigns and have played through it several times I thank you for your work. I have some things I'd like to say.
I feel no challenge on the early missions in the first terran and zerg campaigns, would you make these missions more challenging? - make the enemies bases larger on hard. Other than those first few missions as a casual player, and as someone who could barley beat some of the original campaigns, I find the hard difficulties to be right on spot maybe a little harder for some missions. I find the final zerg and terran campagins to be the best balanced on hard, not over the top but requiring a fair amount of skill to complete,
The remake of most maps are very similar to the original however at some points you have added little things like ghost heros having snipe or medic in the first campaign. Have you ever considered going all the way and just remake every map? I would highly enjoy a fresh take on the original maps, while keeping similarities/following storyline. I could provide some ideas but am not good at map editor.
Reading some comments it seems your long awaited update is almost here(with the bonus terran missions I've always wanted to play) I look forward to this, would you be interested in a review?

Coming soon.
hey guys, just wondering how much longer, thanks
do those newley released free sc2 tools help you guys at all? http://www.moddb.com/news/starcraft-ii-patch-21-and-the-blizzard-arcade
@Lyambda: Go
I believe you just stated the exact reason the mission was unused in the first place.
@Telenil: Go
And what's the point of this mission if it does not tell anything. I think it is better to create a condition in the prior missions to these conditions by which loaded OSS or The Big Push. But this is just a suggestion.
