Introduction

Galaxy Locale Editor is a program that allows you to edit locales with Starcraft 2 outside the Galaxy Editor. This is an advantage but also a disadvantage for several reasons.

This software will presents you all locales for all parameters, with several tools, like Search or filters.

After editing, you can save to erase the old locales content by the new.

File Management

Several buttons are available :

  • Open
  • Save
  • Save as...
  • Close

Open

Open a new SC2 Map. This will export all locales from the archive and store them. After the opening, you can edit the locales as you want. The opening includes a system of "repair". When a map has been edited with Galaxy Editor, several parameters has been moved or erased. Galaxy Locale Editor will detect that and reorder all locale parameters for all locales by the same manner.

By this way, the loading of maps edited with Galaxy Editor is longer than "corrected maps". A corrected map is a map where locales has been generated by SC2 Localizer, manually, or with Galaxy Locale Editor.

After the loading, you can move the SC2Map as you want.

Save

Save the SC2Map. This will import all edited locales to a SC2Map.

Save as...

This will copy a SC2Map and import all edited locales to this copy.

Close

Close a SC2Map. Be carreful, closing without save will erase all modifications at the locales done in the program.

Locale Systems

The Locale system included in SC2 is a good idea, but the effectiveness for development is horrible. Each time Galaxy Editor want to add a locale field (because you must enter a new "Text" value) it will be add this field to the locale you are worked in.

Others locales are not saved. If new fields has been created or moved in the main locale, others locales are not modified. For Galaxy Locale Editor, this concept is called "Corruption".

A "locale corrupted" map is the fact of having several locale files very different of the main locale. If you want to send your map for localization working, make sure your map is not corrupted.

Galaxy Locale Editor can repair this kind of corruption. Save a map with GLE will produce a list of locales ordered for all locales.

Note: "Corrupted" maps are a longer loading than others maps, because of repairing.
