@Phanx - I think I kinda agree(?), but I believe you've misunderstood my request a little. An X- tag would be in addition to any user-customised SV synchronisation in CC, for the addon author to mark part (or - at the very least - all) of SV as unsuitable for sync, so CC (and others) would ignore it. One of my own addons make extensive use of the client's system clock (unavoidable) and sync'ing those data types would effectively break the addon. Needs are irrelevant when the author knows better than the user. An X- tag needn't be site-specific, but any other SV sync tool (tho I don't know of any others) shouldn't assume it can do as it pleases. Adding support for, and documenting on wowwiki an X- tag that any sync tool can read would be useful to some authors imo.

As an addon author, I can tell you that I would never add such metadata to my addons, not only because it would be useful only for one website's proprietary updater application, but also because not every user would want the same settings synced. Not only do people just have different preferences, but needs vary as well. For example, if you play on two computers with the same screen resolution, you might just want to sync everything. But if you play on two computers with different screen resolutions, or one computer with a single monitor and one with dual monitors, it may not be workable to sync settings for some addons. No amount of site-specific garbage I add to my addon will be correct for everyone's situation, and the syncing application will still need to allow users to select what they want to sync, so why not just leave out the clutter?

Who's forcing you ? You can still use the free version of the client or manually update them

Very pissed off that Curse is forcing us to use their client before it is fully functional. Only 40% of my addons are recognized. Out of 140, it only sees 50. FIX IT, please.

Could I also suggest, in addition to user exclusions, a way for authors to mark their addon so that CC wouldn't sync the addon's SV's - perhaps a X-NoSyncSV metatag in the .toc? (Maybe it could even specify particular sections of the SavedVariables .lua)

I consider such distinctions to be vital for the feature to be valid. :)

@Kaelten: I'm not saying to go in and edit the coords, but have some way to either exclude certain addons, or provide a way to have multiple machines within an account. For example, I wouldn't want my unitframes layout synced between PCs, but I'd certainly like my ItemRack outfits synced.

Brimmstone: I'm planning on making the sv syncing configurable, but I'm not sure we want to go in and try to edit them. Too many ways to do cord systems.

LightSora: that is something that we're not prepared to make any statement on yet.

Why not work with WoWInterface to make a client to update addons from the two sites (or more sites)? Would not have so many unidentified addons.

I play on two different computers, each at a different screen resolution and I'd imagine I'm not the only one. If the client is going to transfer the saved variables files between PCs, then I think this is something that needs to be taken into account.

If you are on it, please fix the bug of the "jumpy" lines when the view is updated. The client remembers the position, lets say 3rd entry in the list but when addons get updated the the list changes it still has the 3rd postion. Better make it remember the addon you are on.

What do you mean by "UI synchronization"? Do you mean that the CC would store your list of mods and then, as long as you signed in with your normal account, you could duplicate your list of mods on a new computer?

Or do you mean that you could store and duplicate the actual settings from those mods?
