because there is no reason to miss them, if you miss them - play them again.
It won't be the same even if the game would be 100% the same like the old one, your emotions combined already with those games you won't be able to transfer freely to an "remake" plus it for sure kinda missing the nostalgic factor
Look at your local colleges/universities for courses about it and ask students to either give you the script and pratice tasks or both.
Or ask the professor/teacher directly commonly they won't decline you directly if you are friendly
But i would ask the students about the "teacher"-level ... it's useless if he cannot teach or the script is simply non-sense
otherwise start with Java, C# or LUA (ie. If you have a WoW-Account you could do some UI-Scripting/Programming with LUA)
3D Modeling and properly Animation are (in my opinion) things I can't teach my self efficiently enough, still Animation includes Programming, where I know how it works ... otherwise, a decent computer science(don't have to be "general" computer science, there are currently popping out many specializations (atleast in germany) - ie. "Science + Computer Science", where students do Physics+Computer Science for example...) degree offers more oppertunities than a single spec. - and i don't know where you are from, but doesn't US universities generally take $10,000 ?
If you have to decide between, Programming and "Modeling and Animation" ; I would take second if you are more into art, first if you are more into math/physics/science/algorithms/all that stuff... (dunno how far you've dived into programming)
the last one you can properly do yourself for 1,5k to 2k $ (not calced, maybe in this price you've also got a good display, and so on ... ); plus due to consoles reducing the need of stronger computers currently, there's no need to spend all that if you aren't effectivly creating render graphics/scenes or doing high performance stuff; which gaming currently isn't
