Yeah, I noticed that adding more imports cause it to bug up.

By the way, publishing is back to normal for me, players downloaded a new 1 MB file from my game and it was fine.

Gosh, you're the only report here that says the bug is gone. Should I publish my map?

Let's hope it doesn't last till Christmas. I have an update which will uplift the holiday spirit!... basically a Jingle Bells song in the start.

Hey guys, this is the same bug that occurred a few months ago. If you want to reverse the effects of this stupid bug, simply upload an old version of your game.

For example, for every version I publish, I make a copy of the source file and keep in archived. So when I encountered this problem, I uploaded an older version and it simply works.

I'm guessing Blizzard's servers still has a working copy of my older version and was smart enough to link the newly published upload to that of the old version. I dunno, I guess publishing right now is broken and uploads a corrupt file.

Currently working on a smarter AI, allowing it to assess each player based on their actions (except chat ofc.) and make decisions accordingly. I'm currently facing some bugs with the new AI, but I did code this while sleep deprived so maybe it'll be an easy fix.

AI is important in my game since the game just doesn't have a mechanic for removing players. A five player game must end as a five player game, etc.

posted a message on Spies in the Resistance

When I was young, I would usually showcase what ever WC3 game I was working on. So I thought, I'd showcase this considering how far it's gone in development.

    Spies in the Resistance

a game of deception and deduction

Based on the party game 'The Resistance', the game play revolves around deception (for the Spies) and deduction (for the loyal Resistance) through the use of social interaction (i.e. chat) and player decisions.

    Mechanics:

The game is much like Mafia, two parties with different interests. The Spies know each other, the loyal Resistance do not know who the Spies are.

The Resistance need to succeed in 3 missions to win, the Spies need to sabotage 3 missions to lose.

The tricky part is knowing who to pick for the missions. If there are 5 players, 2 must be picked for the first mission. There are two spies in a 5 player game. A leader is assigned from the group and the leader is responsible for proposing a team.

The players assess the team and votes according to their interests. For example, Spies would want a Spy in the team, loyal Resistance would want no Spies in the team.

Spies can deceive the Resistance in many ways. By the way they vote, the outcome of the missions with who's in the team, and of course, chat. The Spies can choose whether to sabotage the mission if they're in the team. This means that they can deceive the others into thinking that they're a safe pick later on.

One of my goals as a developer for this game was to create a friendly UI that was simple yet effective. Not sure if I've achieved that, but it was fun trying. Anyway, here are some screenies. Open to comments and suggestions.

posted a message on Hiring: a modeller.

I have a game called -The Thing- [Revival] where one of the players is a monster that can disguise by morphing into a Marine.

    thingy

I thought the Aberration was a good alternative but maybe I can improve it.

Anyway, there was a volunteer, back then, that was on the process of creating a model for the game, but had since disappeared.

    Phanalax

I actually have his .m3 model, just needs polishing, animations and better textures I think... Not sure if that's the source file, but if it'll help make things free, I can provide it. (lol)

But assuming we'll start from scratch, here are some things I require:

    1. High poly model
    2. Detailed textures/mapping
    3. Natural looking animations with burrow state & transitions, spell, attack, move, etc. (whatever the Aberration has)
    4. Attachment points
    5. Future support

    BONUS

    1. Portrait
    2. Transformation animation to/from Marine. (Doesn't necessarily have to use the Marine model, turning to/from a simple blob (which is similar to a Marine) is good too.)
    3. Additional animations such as roar, throw, eat, etc.

If interested, PM me your plan and the price you want for it and I'll see if I'm willing. (Warning: I'm just a student (and maybe a bit of a cheapskate)) Thanks SC2.

There were maps that were not popular yet had a banlist?

Personally, I don't think Blizzard has that kind of tendency.

I just think they don't act upon these things, plain and simple.

posted a message on Unwanted Player (Question and Concern)

    @GlornII: Go

Admin abuse in my game is not tolerated. Fortunately, I haven't heard much reports from non-admin players, so I guess I picked my admins well.

Datasick, I assume you're PandaPower, GlornII is correct.

When I "banned" Reefer (a player who teamkills, harasses and lobby holds) from my game, I knew that the next day, he'd be holding my game lobby, crying about the ban. That's when I saw the opportunity to have him promise to behave a bit more. Never got a lobby hold from him ever since. (Then Blizzard finally listened to me and implemented AFK host auto-kicking)

I don't believe in banning as a solution to these trolls. But when you want them to listen to you and take you seriously, it works...

    ...

To answer your question, Datasick, there is no way to ban players from the lobby. Didn't I mention that in our forums?

Anyway, with the AFK host exploit fixed, no real worries any more.

I've tried adjusting the selection layer, but not having to duplicate it. Is that really key to making it work?
