Who is going to take on the challenge?
Everyone must become a variation of Mozared! This topic will be sticky until I have decided the infection has spread far enough.
Original post, just to show how off-topic we got: "Hello everyone! I've been using the same avatar for several years now, and I think it's time for an upgrade. If anyone would like to attempt to make a new avatar for me, please post it below!
Whoever posts the best avatar will get a free nothing! Hooray!"
Speaking of college, where do you all live? I have a sweet apartment with my best friend. 15x11 foot rooms (sorry, not doing the metric conversion on that one haha), with a nice fake granite kitchen and a fairly large living area. I'm assuming a lot of you are out of college and have a house/apartment already that isn't a college apartment, so what's that like? Where did you decide to stay?
I'm also curious to see if the college living norms vary from country to country. (Or at least continent to continent). I'm assuming dorms are the standard for freshman everywhere?
Oh, another status update: I finally watched Dr. Who, therefore I finally understand your avatar! And by finally watched, I mean binge watched all 7 seasons in 2 weeks... It was worth it.
Well, maybe your avatar isn't from Dr. Who. But it's still David Tennant, so it counts. Let's not turn this into a Dr. Who thread, but speaking of which, do we have any Whovians on SC2Mapster?
EDIT: Oh wow, thanks guys. Thanks for telling me I started the thread with "I us mods"... o.O
EDIT2: I've decided to leave the "I us mods" in the thread. It adds character.
I also swim in a pool. But not very fast. In fact, I'm usually not moving. Or swimming. More... floating.
Would highly recommend learning Java if you haven't already. Python has it's usages, but Java is such a better starting language. It is a great bridge into CPP, which is then obviously a great bridge into C (and CSharp). That's the path I took at least, and it worked great. Java got my mind in OO programming, then from that I eventually learned C, which is great for non-OO programming. That's my opinion, at least. There are many people who I'm sure would disagree with me.
Oh, I see. Good. Very good.
So I us mods have been having a nice little conversation over the last month about what's been happening in our lives. Getting new computers, getting PhD's, travelling, being 5 blocks away from the Purdue school shooting (that was me), etc. Everyone has a life outside of SC2Mapster. So what is it? Is anyone doing anything fun or exciting?
I, for example, have been spending the last 5 months working on making a WoW/Fire Emblem/Pokemon/Sim City (it's actually a totally original concept that I have been told is pretty cool) hybrid in Java. It's surprising coming along quite nicely, and will be released in a couple of years. (I'm actually going be releasing the closed BETA here first, and giving away free copies!)
I'm sure that with all the intelligent and interesting people on this website (can't say that about most websites), there has to be at least a couple people with interesting stories. So let's hear them! Brag about yourself! Brag about others! Let's have some fun with it.
