posted a message on [WIP]World War 2 - The War to End All Wars

    -Summary-
I had done a lot of notes and research on World War 2 previously to do a WW2 map in Warcraft 3. However when Starcraft 2's beta began I started eying my old notes contemplating picking it up again. So I'm going to go ahead and post my notes and research here and see if I can get some help concepting most of the game.

The premise of the game itself is diplomacy, there will be various nations at various allegiance points (I'm not going with a specific year, the entire game will be solidified with the "big players" in World War 2 over the course. There won't be time events most likely (although it could make a future game mode). The end goal is for your alliance of players to have your alliance be the last remaining group of players on the map.

    -General Gameplay-
(its all up for discussion, I'm still mainly gathering notes)
Players all start out as Isolationist, Isolationist players generate higher taxes from their people but their military production is much much slower
Once a player tries to move into an Isolationist player's territory they will have their units stuck at the border unless they choose to declare war
Once a player declares war with another, the other player is forced into war mode with them
In War Mode a player has much higher production values but lower tax revenue
Players can provide gifts to other nations (in the form of units and resources)
There are national waters around some nations, entering them is counted under the same rules as moving into their territory
Special Units can still move into Isolationist territory and perform actions (Agents, Submarines)

These notes are far from finished, anything you are willing to submit is welcome, any personal quirks (don't like what nations I use because its insulting to somebody, cities chosen not accurate) please let me know.

Suggestions for Units, Research, National Passives/Special Units (still reworking some), and a variety of other things are welcome, anything you think it needs. I will try to address each post individually.

Formerly contemplated an Act of War/Peace system, but not sure how well it would play out..

    Quote:

Public Opinion is a general rating each nation maintains, this is the people's opinion of all other players in the game. Allying with a player that your people hate for example will drive down tax revenue, so will invading a player they like. When a player commits an Act of War against you, public opinion of that player drops, when a player performs an Act of Peace to you, public opinion of them will increase.
Acts of War and Peace are a variety of things that players can do, attacking your units in neutral territory for example is considered an Act of War, gifting things to said nation, fighting foes/allies of said nation will cause problems (unless they are the adverse, ex; You are allied with Britain, but your people hate Britain, if Germany attacks Britain your people will not lose opinion of Germany)
Contemplating a League of Nations system that will have a variety of consequences/benefits for players, could also play into the Acts of War and Peace things (IE: If the League in general votes that one player is a problem)
