Hello everyone. Just got back to modding ever since the Mac editor finally got fixed. Right now I am working on a simple mod that only allows ground units. Now thing is that with such a mod, I realized that terrains could easily just lift off structures and float them off map. I don't want to just out right remove the lift off ability for terrans though because its something that makes playing that race more unique in playstyle. I am however trying to figure out a way to cause Terrans cause the structures to explode set on fire after 30 seconds and explode after one minute(preferably with warning text beforehand. I suspect that a trigger needs to be made for this, but I am very unfamiliar with triggers currently. Wanted to know how I might go about this.
Give the solution I tried in the video I posted last comment. After doing this and downloading SC2 again, you should at least get a working PC editor on your Mac, but it will be slower.
I second this. Well. I do have some good news though. Turns out only leviathan here knows what he is talking about. I got parallels and now I am able to use the mac editor, but I found a somewhat better way then what he had suggested. I found a way to get the most recent version for free. Watch this video if any another mac users here want to find out.
This actually got me a working PC SC2 Editor but at the same time the editor moves more slowly on parallels as only leviathan said it would. This can prove to be a major pain cause ever second counts. However at this point the only solution for mac users to truly use the mac editor smoothly would be to buy a high end pc. So I have another question now. I just figured out how to get parallels for free completely legally. Any idea how to get a pc that would play the editor smoothly, but with the least cost possible?
No believe me. I have not like Windows ever since Windows 8, but since Mac does not work for so many gaming related things, I might have no choice. My only worry is that I buy all of that then a few days later, the Mac editor is patched. Although I largely think this won't happen any time soon.
Where did you get these paralells and how much did they cost? I tried getting a Virtual Box with Windows 10 download, but it would not work properly in the virtual box. Turns out that Virtual boxes have very limited graphics support.
Yes I am having this bug too right now and so pissed off right now. I was in the middle of a really awesome project. Who knows when this will be fixed. Blizzard has a long history of taking their good old time on things like this and has said there is low support for the editor.
So as some of you might already be aware from my past thread about the Mac editor not working since patch 3.12, I decided to get a virtual box machine to download Windows 10 onto my Mac. The system is overall working okay and I got an almost working Mac up on this virtual box. Now thing is that every time I try to start the PC version of the Mac editor within the virtual box, it says e_gfxErrorAPIError. This is an error that I never got using the Mac editor and also sometimes the map Terran just simple does not show up. I want to post a picture of this, but I've reached my upload limit. Now here is the video link I used to set up the Virtual Box to run windows 10 on my pc. Shows exactly everything I did. After that I installed Battle.net and the editor of course.
This below is some system info about the Actual Mac I am using:
Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac14,2 Processor Name: Intel Core i5 Processor Speed: 3.4 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 6 MB Memory: 8 GB
I am not counting on it getting fixed soon. Blizzard has a track record for taking a long time to get things like this done. Another thing also is that I was told by the GM that low priority is put into the SC2 editor which is sad. After all, we are essentially working for them for free. What do they have to lose?
In reply to DrSuperEvil: Its very new. Like only a few months old and one of the better ones too. Here is the details of it.

My apologies if this is the wrong section, but I thought this is a thread that needed to be made. I am not the only one experiencing the problem. Ever since patch 3.12 all I get every time I try to open this message is "e_errorldUnkownData". I tried reloading and installing it again twice as well, but it did not work. Apparently it works just fine right now for PC users though. A response was made in the editor section of the official forums and they are apparently going to fix it soon. Are there any Mac users here who have not been having issues like this?
When I had a look at the placement check layer it appeared exactly the same as the original item I copied it from. Its a spore cannon that I was attempting to repurpose. Maybe it might not have to do with the footprints. I suspected it did due to that I solved this problem at a previous time with another item just by experimentally copying the item, then it was finally fixed once I reset the footprints.

Have a look at this thread though. I am not though only one experiencing this.
