    Alrighty, So the contest is now closing for entries, now I will need to make sure I have all the map files you wish to enter in one place.

    Please do the following.

    Send me all maps and any variants of your map along with a top down view screenshot to "roman.glasencnik@gmail.com"

    Any entrants that do not do the following may be overlooked as I need the maps in once place.

    The winner will be decided in 7 days from this post 2/12/12, I will post here with the winning map and honourable mentions of other maps.

    The lag is mainly just due to the fact of how many units we had on the field at one time, and sc2 slows down the game for everyone to almost match the person with the slowest computer, which on NA servers, it seems that alot of people have out dated computers.

    That being said, I'm accepting all entries and will play test on maps I like.

    @Everyone

    Please post before the deadline with details about your map or a screenshot/rough layout, nobody will get this right the first time unless they have played alot of Marine Arena as well as being half decent at it.

    I had a quick play test of MA on your map, and the bases are wayyy to small, it was quite hard to fit in the merc compounds without being to vulnerable.

    I actually could sit a siege tank on a cliff and kill a command centre from the cliff with it, that being said, it wouldn't work against decent players but still, we try to balance around for everyone.

    I loved the theme and the middle area felt nice, but the xel naga cliffs were just too large to make enough space for the bases.

    First of all, 4 maps on a big terrain will actually cause lag, Sc2 renders everything you don't see even if its off map, so any doodads or units or what ever would just add to the lag that MA already experiences.

    and for this reason, I wouldn't want 4 terrains to choose from.

    top left terrain - Classic terrain, would love to see someone remake it, new textures, possible new side areas and even mid if you wanna experiment.

    top right terrain - probably the one i'm most interested in seeing down on paper although the xel naga cliffs may encourage too much fighting on them rather than the mid, that all depends on how they are build i suppose.

    bottom left terrain - would need to be alot bigger to actually be good, considering the current MA has the merc compounds that are about 7 range away from the cliffs, I don't see this actually being able to be built and be viable to be competitive and fair.

    bottom right terrain - Circle Marine Arena, would be really really awesome, although I feel like it would have ALOT of wasted space, This would be epic if it could work, although, not seeing how it would work without alot of wasted space.

    Current map is 96x96 Old map was 114x114 and because of the extra size, it caused a bit more lag.

    please keep this in mind.

    My map is currently sitting at 21 megs.

    I know of maps that are near 65 megs and still have no issues with publishing.

    @TaintedWisp - It's going to be hard to make a different map or layout, but I don't mind if someone near copies the current map and they can even make it a little bigger, I just really wanted to do this to see what people could come up with.

    @Michaelknives - The map size that I originally said could be made a bit bigger, just not too much, nothing to do with triggers or regions, its more as snowman said, we had a map that was 114x114 at one stage and just the extra size and bigger chokes caused a considerable extra chunk of lag, but i'm still open to things that are bigger.

    - Blimp idea would probably be better for a free for all map as you said, and i'm open for a free for all map :) so if you wanna submit one, go ahead, you could even make it have less players.

    @Everyone, I will also be taking submissions of a another map, 6 players, 2 per team. triangle would achieve this, but I wanna see what you all can come up with :)

    This is what he made, looks pretty cool, but not really practical.

    - Cliffs are too complicated to keep melee a little viable

    - Cliffs are too close to the merc compound which may be because the bases are a little small.

    - Triangles just seem like an odd shape to have for bases, awkward aswell.

    @FullaChain, please just open up sc2 and see what is required building wise, screenshots really wouldn't show everything.

    Also keep in mind the max range, this is more for cliff areas and merc compounds, depending on peoples lay outs.

    mercs/marines range from 5 to 6.2

    heroes/elites 5.5 to 7.25 for the most part.

    Umm, i'm open to a HOTS Terrain, although the main $50 will go to a WOL Terrain, if the HOTS terrain is that good I may pay out more moneys if its worth it :)

    Hey, Yeah 2 players have to share a base, it doesn't need to be terran themed.

    Be creative, I would love to see some new layouts if possible, I was also looking for a free for all map, although 8 player free for all is very hard to achieve imo.

    you can shape the map how ever u want, as long as I can fit all the things I require onto the map, without it being over sized.

    I was going to post the orig map, but as I said, new layouts are welcome, and our current layout is not 100% equal for all 4 bases, so its not a good basis to set anything to.

    Hey Peeps!

    I'm giving some of those awesome terrainers out there a chance to make some quick cash, I want a new fancy terrain to use for Marine Arena.

    $50 Delivered through paypal to the terrain a few other people and myself like the most and that I can actually use.

    Competition ends in 14 days from this post (11/25/12)

    I would like to keep the map nearing the same exact size (a tiny bigger may be ok), but be creative.

    join a private game and see what room is needed and the current layout for ideas what is required.

    Things to consider:

    - 4 Xelnaga Towers on each side (orig layout) - 4 Bases diagonal (orig layout) - Chokes are currently a little too tight. - Middle area that has room for 4 shops, top bottom and both sides. - Melee will get choked if the side cliffs for the xel naga's are to complicated.

    Current Dimensions : 96x96

    Map and Camera bounds.
