OK, so my WoW Model Viewer isn't working, it won't load anything. I scanned through the log and at the end: "World of Warcraft Data Directory Not Found. Returned GamePath: C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\" WoWMV found that directory before, I don't know what's going on now.
Has anyone noticed that Space Orc in the Warcraft 3 editor? It would fit well in many Starcraft 2 maps. If someone could convert that model into an .m3, I'd appreciate it much. Normally I'd go for it myself, but I don't know how to animate... Whoever converts that model may then upload it here.
I'm actually trying to follow along here too. Followed Molsterr's instructions, but when I import the .m3, I only see the checkered sphere with a red space. Since the WoW model viewer crashes on me too upon export, I wonder if the .m3 file ends up corrupted? Trying to use version 7.0.6.
UPDATE: Problem solved upon falling back to version 7.0.5. :)
I thought we weren't allowed to extract anything not owned by Blizzard and then import 'em into SC2. I'd otherwise handle 'em myself, and I also thought it wouldn't be a big deal if they're from old, obsolete games.
I will show you how to import a Google Earth image/screenshot into a Starcraft 2 map. I recommend watching this in high quality so that you can read. Once again, thanks to "printIn". :)
@Vicboy: Go Are you thinking a tutorial? Probably soon, gotta shoot it.
@Eimtr: Go Whoever made the image with the Eiffel Tower obviously did this differently. As far as flat trees go, you can still place those tree doodads on top of them. The whole thing is "passable" unless you add some pathing blockers. And yes, it's only good for RTS, Top-Down RPGs, or even a Top-Down cinematic.
@Vicboy: Go That is correct. And I should also mention it's only good to cover large flat areas. You'll still have to do work with the terrain height. You could try using Photoshop, whatever's comfy for you.
Folks, looks like I got this well-practiced. I actually took a plane from Blender and just applied a Google Earth screenshot to it. Upon import, I duplicated the "Map Template" as I mentioned earlier and assigned it to the Google Earth screenshot. Only a little configuration was needed.
Just thought I'd remind everyone here. I updated the description to make it more clear. Here's the link to the other addon used. Besides Florian here, credits also go to Thomas Glamsch.

I just noticed this and it looks awesome! :) If there's a download link released, could someone point me to it?

@Delphinium1987: Go
That almost looks like the C&C Ion Cannon.

@Zolden: Go
And besides, I don't always have to upload to Battle.net, right? I got some real-life friends... :)

Used to, might do so again via software emulators. :)

Actually, I just figured out my own way to do all this. But thanks gentlemen. :)
