I've heard and inferred all manner of things about blizzard banning arcade maps, or not banning them when seemingly they have reason to.
For example:
Barcraft got banned for copyright.
However,
Startrek Subjugation has been on the arcade for 2+ years and its obviously using startrek themed models and textures.
Don't get me started on the rumors that may be true about banning for things like language and so on.
The point of this thread is:
Someone I know was threatened by another arcade user over a map that is very similar to another map and attracting the same player base. The threat was, "Take your map down or I'll report you to blizzard and they will ban you for copying [map name here]"
This sounds bogus to me, given how many variations there are of desert strike for example. As the title says, has anyone heard of this actually happening?
Does anyone have an example for an ability that shoots a 'wave' of something outward, similar to alarak's destruction wave but supporting multiple ability levels? One key feature is that units closer to the target get hit before those further away as the wave travels, another is that each unit only gets damaged once.
This method will prevent players from seeing the affected player's chat messages. Note that its is an imperfect workaround compared to blizzard's silence punishment, It pushes the text off the screen before it can be read.
Step 1:
Make a new trigger, set the event to "chat message", and for the event options, leave the string field blank and set the other option to partially.
If done right the trigger editor should display 'Player Any Player types a chat message containing "", matching partially.'
Step 2:
Add a condition, otherwise everyone's messages will be silenced. For example, you can check if the triggering player is in a specific player group or has a specific handle. The condition you add is up to you, in this case I have it check to see if the triggering player is in a specific unit group.
Step 3:
Add the following action:
UI - Text message
Set the message to "<n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/><n/>" (without the ""), the player group to "all players" and the message area to "Chat"
I'm still experimenting with this but its worked in basic tests.
This is my first tutorial so if I missed anything please let me know
Say I wanted to have an ability that can only be cast on units with a specific behavior, such that clicking an invalid unit gives an error message similar to clicking on a point with an ability that can only target units or clicking on a structure with an ability that cannot target structures. Can this be done?
As the title says, I have an ability called explosive wave that damages enemies in a line, however its hard to balance how much damage it does since sometimes units are hit by multiple blasts in a single cast, is there an easy way to have only 1 explosion damage a unit per cast? The explosions occur about .15 seconds apart btw. I get the feeling that this has something to do with markers. If someone wants to link me to a tutorial that will be an acceptable answer too.

I could be wrong, but
wouldn't that cause you to cast the ability and it would not do anything?

I'm aware of that. However I cannot find any other method within the trigger editor to accomplish this. If someone can I'm all ears.

That worked after I made a few tweaks.
edit: Upon further testing, no it didn't

Sorry if this is the wrong section.
Considering how much they care about other parts of the TOS, I'd like to know.

I've sent 4 reports, which is double the number needed to silence someone, and no effect.
I posted this thread on battle.net trying to get blizzard to fix their lobby kick feature by adding a delay before someone can rejoin if kicked:
http://us.battle.net/forums/en/sc2/topic/20745625303
If you want that, please post so.

I assume your end goal is to change zagara's sounds without affecting the queen's"
What you want to do is go to the "actors" tab and change which sound data zagara uses, rather then overwriting things in the sound tab.
Here is an explanation of the unit actor fields. http://www.sc2mapster.com/wiki/galaxy/data/actors/type/unit/
If you want to remove a sound from a unit, click the red "-" so it says "none"

You'll want to uncheck "only fire at attack target" and "Only fire while attacking", and possibly "linked cooldown".
This has more info if you need it:

Meaning, how much of a deterrent is reporting in situations like this one: http://us.battle.net/forums/en/sc2/topic/20745724988
Blizzard obviously won't tell you when they address a report so I thought I'd ask if its worked for people before.
