Starcraft: Mass Recall by SCMR Team

For those of you who remember the last newspost about this back in 2011, you'll know that the SC1 series was far from complete... However, Jones and his team have been hard at work, and now all 6 episodes of SC1 and Broodwar have been completed and compiled into one mega-project: Starcraft: Mass Recall (based off of MavercK's SC2BW mod). If you're looking for a great "new" game to play and a healthy dose of nostalgia, go check it out!

In Freax Arena, you begin the game as a hero, alongside 5 allied heroes, as with any hero brawler styled game. However, this game skirts away from the normal modes of grinding in the MOBA genre. You can earn points by questing, doing random events, conquest, in addition to killing your enemies. The Public Beta is kicking off tomorrow (March 7th), following a game presentation, at 7:00 pm (CET), on http://twitch.tv/msthechosenone.

Rock the Cabinet Contest by Blizzard Arcade

For those of you that have been around long enough, you'll know the last Blizzard contest was the previous BlizzCon mapping contest. With the recent changes, Blizzard has decided to throw a nice "welcome" contest to the brand new Arcade with some pretty big cash prizes, as well as a little extra swag. This is what we've all been waiting for, Mapsters! :).

    RULES

    Quote:

We’re looking forward to the variety of games that will be made! Here are the requirements that each submission must follow to be considered a valid entry:

    • The game must be in English.
      • Barring any legal restrictions from your home country and state, anyone is able to participate in this contest, but there must be an English version of the game.
    • The game should support at least one, but no more than six players.
      • You can make a single player RPG or a battle-arena game, but we don’t want the lobby size to be too big. Six is a good maximum for us.
    • Your game files will need to be uploaded as part of the submission.
    • The game must be published to the North American Region of StarCraft II using the map editor.
    • The game’s info page in the StarCraft II Arcade must have a description, at least one screenshot, and the ‘How to Play’ section must be filled out.
    • A forum thread must be created on our Arcade Game Showcase Forum with the following requirements:
      • The title of the thread should read “Rock the Cabinet: [GAMENAME]”
        • Example: Rock the Cabinet: StarJeweled

    Marauders! The Campaign by acidragoon

Marauders! is a collection of single player scenarios focusing on varied ideas and elements. Each map is standalone, but the ones with an RTS style assume that you know what the tech tree looks like from previous maps. The theme is lighthearted nonsense. Do not take anything seriously.

Night of the Dead 2 by Ability and co

    Quote:

NOTD II is a Free to Play cooperative survival game. It places the player in the boots of the United Global Coalition (UGC) Marines as they, along with up to seven others, investigate the events that have turned Eden from a bustling colony on Mars into a seemingly deserted husk, holding untold secrets and daunting challenges.

With the most recent edition of NOTD being one of the most popular games in the StarCraft II Arcade, we feel that we've struck a nerve in terms of what people enjoy playing, so we want to produce something even better. More enemies, more missions, more weapons, more customization, and more fun are our goals for NOTD II. We want to take everything we've learned from the previous game and apply it to create a higher quality experience for everyone involved.

If you want to support the project, you can donate to the kickstarter. If you're not feeling like donating, you can still help the project immensely by spreading the word and sharing the link with as many people as possible; the more popular the project gets on kickstarter, the more exposure it will get, and the more people will donate. If you feel like discussing the project, or you want to see the original trailer, you can check out the project thread.

    Elite Agents by Trieva

Blizzard recently spotlighted EliteAgents by Trieva ...

    Quote:

In Elite Agents you take control of a squad of three marines and attempt to outmaneuver and outthink your opponent, taking out his troops and capturing map objectives. You decide what kind of composition you deploy with, from the beefy ‘heavy’ class to the versatile ‘scout’. Game creator Trevor ‘Trieve’ Quach gives players with different playstyles the tools they need to dispatch their opponent as they see fit. If you like the idea of blasting apart several marines in one shot, the rocket launcher is the way to go. If you prefer finesse in your combat, flash grenades will be your tool of choice, disabling and blinding your enemy.

The goal of the game is to earn points by eliminating marines, capturing the flag, and holding the hill. You can only move one marine at a time and each marine can only take a limited number of actions per turn. Moving, attacking, switching weapons - everything deducts from your total action value, so planning ahead is a must for you squad to be the most effective.

Be sure to read the rest of the article for a fun author interview!
