I think SC2 generates its own MIP maps so you can turn that option off? I vaguely remember reading something like that in the art tools documentation but I could be wrong.
That image is from Artanis DURING the Episode 3, we NEVER see phisicaly Artanis in ep 3, so he could really look like in this way. But in other pages (flashbacks of the Episode 4) we see him with the WoL's armor, so we decided to use the WoL portrait for him.
Yeah but even on the last page with the current armor he looks "off", almost like a different person. Combined with different lightning, Aldaris could have a completely different appearance.
In BW Artanis was showed with cut cords and yellow eyes, but we know he have long cords and blue yes, so the comic appearence is more loyal to the canon appearence of the characters.
The cut nerve cords is an error that Blizzard admitted to. Any other change is pretty much a retcon. Which, if "canon" is what you're going for, great. Otherwise, Blizzard is prone to changing pretty much everything to have little or no resemblance to SC1, in which case "canon" doesn't really matter and will probably be changed yet again if Blizzard ever decides to redraw Aldaris to look nothing like that comic.
Oh yeah I know that scene. The raven is in space and is in the shadow of Char (so you can see almost zero detail) so it's impossible to know how big or small it is because it has no point of reference. Yeah there are BCs in the shot too, but those are arguably much further away. The Raven is a self-sustaining factory, but saying it needs to be large for armament storage isn't that great of an argument when it comes to RTS games... then you'd have to say the roach also has to be huge to store a massive volume of corrosive bile in its body, or the oracle must be huge to stockpile all those stasis wards. At some point you have to start suspending disbelief but it's interesting where/how some people where to choose that point. Like how futuristic sniper rifles / assault rifles have a maximum range of about 30 yards, or how space faring fighter planes have a top speed of about 25 km/h. Anyway I'm going off on a tangent but hopefully I could give you some good insight.
It doesn't matter anyway because Robear's chart on sclegacy is literally the chart that's in the field manual, which is what this mod is based on. The sizes are canon; he didn't randomly make them up. Open up the field manual if you have it, the Raven's huge. :P
The LoTV Dragoon will be used for Fenix, which I'm cool with, because the LoTV Dragoon looks a lot more sleek and Fenix deserves a more advanced model.
I'm still working on the retro mod, which is going to have a bunch of new models too, but it will come after the main release as well, probably when 6.1 is out.

That comic isn't exactly the gold standard. Look at Artanis in this picture: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/media/blizzard-comics/artanis-sacrifice/#/8
Looks nothing like him from the game.

Working on a SC1 dark templar portrait.
No.

That's the joke. ;)

Welcome?

That looks freaking amazing! :o
What do you use to actually sculpt your models? We need a tutorial!

Oh I forgot, I updated it with an animation file. Add "Storm_Hero_Abathur_RequiredAnims.m3a" to the model and there's a ton of animations.

My first foray into 3d modeling. Will plan to create more.

We're all duplicating work. I've added a lot of stuff to the retro mod, some of my own models. Should release with the next update of Mass Recall.

Haha I figured out how Blizz made those as well through a painstaking trial and error process for my campaign. Your result looks great!
And yes more tutorials. :P
