What do you think of the new shot for the Zealot? It should replace the one in the low quality vid.

Yes, there's that big possibility that beta editor created maps will go nuclear with the WoL version. Which, case in point, something I think we all would be interested to know about.

Again, it would be great to have our concerns addressed, even by just a blue poster.

It's either that, or it's pointless to work on something with the current editor and expect to continue one's work when the WoL one arrives.

I see. Well, that's the kind of stuff I wanted to know from Blizzard. Stuff like how much of what may or may not be compatible when the time comes.

I don't really find one week a short time. A whole slew of data mods can be created in as short as 3 days. And not only that the amount in count, but the amount of effort poured into making them.

The way you guys respond seems to me that you are not working on anything right now. If so, then think of it as a starting point of mod community interaction with blizzard. We may not be asking this now, but perhaps, in later times, as more patches come in, the expansions, etc.

    Think about it.

I would have done it if I knew. But I'm sure someone here does.

So, how do you guys manage the fact that there is two weeks worth of dev that can be done, and yet there's the possibility that what you have done will only go to waste?

Exactly. Why should we limit them and not try to ask them? Forums have had privileges on the development of sc2 back then, I'm pretty certain the editor is one feature SC2 will be proud of and which Blizzard will be supporting. Those legal stuff are just for legal stuff, community interaction with Blizzard regarding the editor just might bloom if we give it a shot, in a nice and elegant way of course.

Who will ask them if not we who use the tool?

That's the point. We could use something concrete from them.

I'm sure they will in some form or other. Worth the try, especially since Sc2mapster has already been noticed by Blizzard.

I'd like to know what's going to change from this version of the editor to the final release version, just so to limit the amount of possible incompatibilities that might come up as we move from beta to WoL.

I'm certain you guys would like to know and appreciate much as well. Is there a way that we as a community could request info of this nature from Blizzard?

posted a message on SOp Banker Actors

Has anyone discovered what these things are for and how to use it? I've seen these used to make units bank upon turning, can we use this to make units roll xy? Using behaviors and actor events to make units do barrel rolls? Triggers?

    Nukes I've come across are:

    1. Some images have been removed, thus custom UI using dialog and image background goes kaput. 2. Something has changed with unit training and stuff. Even if costs were 0, the game wont allow training/warping. 3. Actor Events+ changes. 4. Camera depth of field have changed. It's now impossible to have DoF while allowing the skybox to be rendered in detail.

posted a message on How do you guys get motivation ?

Just found this after searching for ways to make units do a barrel roll and a few stuff.

I have to say to be looking for motivation itself signifies the lack of eagerness towards what you must undertake. There are a couple of reasons why one needs motivation (in my experience):

    a. the path ahead is so long, what one can muster isn't enough. b. the reward is not equal to the seemingly daunting task required. c. the objective is not clear enough. d. exhaustion

There may be more, but I confess the reason behind needing motivation mostly is the lack of connection to the desired object, which in our case here, a project.

    My advice are:

    a. start small. Don't think about anything else but just that one thing. Then do whatever you feel like doing. b. don't start anything, keep the thought without doing anything for it, about it, or regarding it. c. find yourself. Be true to yourself, in what you want, why you want them, and if it makes sense. d. Promote the idea. Some people are more suited to initiate an idea, express them, and rally people around the idea. While some have the skills and not have the rallying idea to keep them alive (or in our case, motivated) while doing the project.

Finally, and foremost, forget motivation and just be. It is important to remember that factors can either "ignite one's spirit" or "put it out". That inner drive to do just about what one feels like doing needs inspiration and to be inspired the heart/center/mind needs stimulation.

In terms of LoTR, throw the damn ring froddo! :D

I hope that helps, since I have and at times, still struggle with this. But now seem to find the proper way of handling ambition and passion when resources seem inadequate. ;)

    Cheers!
