Yeah I think I started off with prequel syndrome which slowly faded over time. But like I said even with the story being what it is the game itself and tools are great. Also I really enjoyed the ride as far as WoL pre release. The concept art, alpha units, stories that never made it and interviews is a goldmine for cool stuff. Just like the prequels I'm utterly disappointed but I'm glad it exists kind of.

That's actually really cool. I never gave to much thought into the Protoss sub factions before but looking at it from that perspective makes a lot of sense.

Gotta download CASC viewer. They no longer use MPQ if I'm not mistaken. Sorry I don't have a link I'm on my phone.

Yeah don't worry I can see why people like the story and all that. It's just not quite my cup of tea. Besides that I wouldn't really be any good at arguing anyways so to each their own. :D

As far as the kids go, I have no evidence but I could see them being very spartan like. Their young would likely train early and be very serious. Although a Carbots silly kid Protoss would be really cool to see at some point.

Since you bring up comics it would be really awesome to see some kind of young Protoss comic that's like the start of 300 where the kid fights to survive.

In my opinion story wise they changed a lot from BW. Locations, characters, motivations and even events changed from the original game. The general art design is radically different as well. Not to mention a lot of important stuff was retconned. As someone who reads the original manual like a bible it makes me sad.

That being said I don't hate the game. I just think the story belongs in a Warcraft game. More good came out of it than bad at the end of the day.

Back on topic your theory sounds like it could make sense. In the end I'm pretty sure there are little Protoss running around somewhere. Though for now I'm glad they have shied away from showing them.

They don't have mouths and hopefully never will. But SC1 isn't even canon anymore. So I'd wager in SC3 they not only will have mouths but there will be mass effect style "romantic" scenes. Since alien sex is all the rage these days.

    Sigh.

At first probably. I'm still super confused as to why nipples or even the female Protoss breasts exist though. I haven't given it too much thought but it'd be hard for a mouth less alien to use them lol.

OK so in 2013 I think, I was at Blizzcon and myself and the SCU team cornered Metzen. We asked a couple of questions and one from Creation25 was how do Protoss reproduce. Straight from the lips of the man himself, the Nerazim get it on just like humans.

I forget specifically what he said about the Khalai. I think he described it similar to the Navi from Avatar. It'd be weird if the Nerazim had sex and the Khala didn't though, so maybe he meant if was super ritualistic.

Now he was drinking like everyone else but I don't think he would lie because it's not like it was an interview or something he'd have to own up to at some point.

    Mille25, Metzen, myself

My Dad bought it when it came out because of the spawns you can make for multiple computers. We used to do FFAs with him, my two brothers and myself locally. Those are some of my best memories. I only got to watch the campaign at first since my older brothers got to play but Tassadar was my favorite character. Zeratul actually freaked me out because he was so mysterious. Somehow I had no idea Kerrigan was taken alive and the chrysalis you were protecting had her in it. Huge shocker for me at the time.

Excellent point. I forgot to mention that I was very pleased with the opening cinematic zealots.

    @DEFILERRULEZ: Go

They certainly look better than the SC2 ones but I still prefer the original design. Looking at the the Ravener in my opinion looks closer to the SC2 Hydra but I see what you mean with the Gaunt. I'm fine with it though. One of the things I think of when I see original Zerg are the locusts from a Bug's Life. Now the zergling resembles a wolf like beast, and the Hydra went from a freak slug thing to a massive behemoth Diablo monster. The Zerg look cool now when they are supposed to make you sick. I guess that's my point.

Same with the Protoss body design. They used to resemble creepy high tech aliens and their skin reminded me of greys and aliens that fly UFOs. Now Artanis should be in a steroids commercial. Yes they look cooler. They aren't supposed to though.

As far as dragon I was referring to Zurvan. In my opinion the Primal Zerg design was abismal.

With the Zerg they used to look like insects and their buildings were similar to piles of organs and meat. It was disgusting as the Zerg should be. You can see in the picture below they basically just added 400 spikes to everything and applied this extremely dull brown and purple to everything. On top of that the units look so cute. The lurker, zergling, baneling, overlord and infestor look straight out of Pokemon.

Going onto the Terrans you can see in the picture how dull the textures are. Everything is clean and looks straight out of a Megablocks pack. If I remember correctly they have a deal with Megablocks too. A few minutes in photoshop and it looks much closer to the original in my opinion.

I want to express again how much I love Artanis and he definitely deserves better armor than his shoulder pad in BW, but this picture proves they based it on a WarCraft character. In fact if I looked harder I'd probably even find something closer. From the general design to the shoulder pads and forearms it's the same. Looks like metal plates lay over each other instead of the techno suit the lower right zealot picture shows.

As far as the heads I like the new model design. What I was talking about is the colors. Characters had many different eye and skin colors. Not to mention patterns like Fenix, Tassadar and Aldaris. In SC2 you rarely see a Protoss with a different face.

    https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1720/24486668410_d39465ebc7_o.jpg

All in all I still generally like SC2 but I'm way more of a fan of the good ol' days. This is all just my opinion.

If anything StarCraft 2 is the knockoff. The SC2 Marine looks so close to the Space Marine. The Zerg lost their identity as they once looked like organs and had individuality now they all have the exact same color pallet. The Protoss look way different but they feel right. Although the change of all of their heads is atrocious. Removed all individuality from them. Artanis is awesome but his armor belongs on a WarCraft character not a high tech alien.

There was something about that 90s style space that I think is more StarCraft than just WarCraft in space. Unfortunately now that's literally what they have. The story, style, characters and gameplay are just WarCraft now.

I love WarCraft by the way I just don't think the styles should mix.

Working on that Brood War Hydra has really got me down about the current art style. It used to be amazing and so unique among other games. It's hard to believe the guy who made that original ghost or zergling sketch in the manual also made that anime dragon thing...

    Wow this looks great man.

I think for the most part Blizzard probably won't come after you as long as you aren't using assets from other properties. I'm pretty sure the Star Wars and Halo mods that got taken down had ripped models in them. At most they'll probably make you change the name to "Transforming Robots" or something.

Plays really smooth. Graphics look great for a StarCraft 3rd person game. Not a ton of stuff to do but like you said it's an alpha. I'm excited to see what comes of this. Keep it up man.
