I've got a ticket in to fix the youtube icon not allowing youtube embeds *facepalm* - hopefully that gets into one of the fixer upper days.

    Another update for everyone:

Slowly making it through all of the stuff that came through after the end of the year. There was a lot! Not just from you guys. I'm still going to put together a larger list, but for those of you that are following this thread I wanted to let you guys know since I got swamped the moment I stepped back into the office.

We've put in a temporary fix for the site wide limit on file attachments on the forums (by upping it to a large amount) - but will be removing the restriction altogether for this community in the future. Test this and let me know if it works, if not I'll go throw hotdogs at the developers!

I have a list of other little things I hope to have fixed up for you guys by the end of next week. Don't get your hopes up too high, but I'm focusing on things like the reply feature in the forums, embeds, attachments etc. I want to get the community features and content creation tools back to full speed.

I'm not even back to Cali yet!! Let me fly back and poke prod and bug the developers about things before you pitchfork me!
If I don't have any good news for you, then you can go Frankenstein mob, as long as your polite and friendly.

    Not gonna lie...

I really do love this community. Soon as I'm back in the office I'm going to take this to the devs - I'm guessing we'll get some great responses.

posted a message on Theres a Galaxy Editor Bug Thread, but no Sc2Mapster Bug Thread?

The map file is uploaded/download-able, just the message beneath "Recent files" is incorect, it should feature/link the file i did upload which is available .. or am i wrong?

i just wanted to see how this super front page worked .. so glad the "default" is on popular (just like blizzard's pop system, sub par!).

i knew that it would not put my map on front page "dynamically", i was "subtly" lobbying for it to be done in a (soon(tm)) future.. since the new site "code" is so glittery new and awesome and tall and handsome with a mustache and smells nice [sigh] ...

Yea - we're still working on parameters for recent files, as a result they aren't showing just yet. They will soon :D

I'm getting Invalid Archive too. Anybody know what the hell's going on?

Ah - the new file processor doesn't seem to like *.SC2Map and is expecting ZIPs. You should be able to ZIP it up and reupload. I'll bring this to the team and check if we want to enforce ZIPs (its to keep the malware and other checks simpler) or allow SC2Map files. If that doesn't work, please let me know - might be bug territory.
I'm currently evaluating the whole process (and I'm trying to learn what you guys do!) so I can write up documentation for the new system and put some new guidelines up. Sorry for the frustration!
EDIT: Sorry for missing this! I'm only one guy :[ - Anytime issues like this arise PLEASE feel free to PM me or shoot me a tweet @MrFlamegoat - if you guys can't upload files for any reason, as far as I'm concerned that's MISSION CRITICAL and I want to know!

If this limit is based on every images you uploaded previously, I'd probably be far over that limit. I don't know how much I posted, but definitly many many images and some with very high scale. Also the limit was more than 10 Mb, and it as not related to "how many posts or how much known you are"

This post back in 2011 when I was not that much known proves it: https://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/miscellaneous-development/172196-collection-of-all-doodads?comment=6

The images in the attachement weight 12.7Mb. Just with that it would be like a third of my limit? Doesn't make any sense.

We're working on this - just waiting on a couple of the guys to get back up and running after vacay/holidays. We're going to more closely match all the limits in place previously.
EDIT: Try now - may have removed the overall limit. Still a 5MB limit on individual file limit.

Before you lock, I have a suggestion.

Would it be possible to make it so we could tag forum users? such as @MrFlamegoat

Something I've put a request in for - little more complex than it seems.

    I'm back guys!

I've read through and I do see a lot of duplicates and common complaints, ideas, suggestions, etc. So I think I'm going to opt for potentially locking this thread, compiling what we have into a proper bugs list/known issues list for us to keep track of things.

We're not back in the office yet, so I still have a lot to do before flying back to Cali.

Don't insult the minecraft curse website, even it doesn't have such a terrible front page I mean look http://www.minecraftforum.net/, which makes me wonder why we can't use that as a semi-template for ours.

Important note: That site is managed by a different team. It's a Curse site vs a CurseForge site. minecraft.curseforge.com is a more applicable equivalent in this case.
The sheer size and activity of that property means it has a heckuva lot more resources attributed to it. Tens of thousands of active users vs a hundred or so here on SC2Mapster.
That's the reality, one we can't deny internally. That's why it's so important that we keep this discussion going. As we pool the wants and needs from this community and the others together - SC2Mapster isn't so small, then.

Ehh ?? no biggy just 6 pages, back during my moderating days something like this reach page 99.
I had to close it and put "Click on the link to continue to the new topic".
You're dangerously close to "get off my lawn" with that post :D :D

    @TheAzureguy

Thanks for the well wishes - and believe me - I hear you loud and clear.

As I mentioned before, I totally agree that what we have currently isn't the correct perfect fit. I'm hoping that within the next week I can get together some more solid "yes" and "no" answers (because I know I've been quite vague) as to what we can and can't change. What we can and can't do. I'm going to do my best to put in the most requested fixes, features, and complaints with some solid suggestions on how we can tweak this and that to make the round hole a little more square peg shaped.

Quite honestly, your post and the others like it, full of discreet reasonings and well thought out proposals makes my job a helluva lot easier. So it is greatly appreciated.

With everything running that same code base, if users on wow.curseforge.com find a bug, you get the benefit.

So, what if instead of making mapster like the other curse websites, you would actually create a unique design that could potentially introduce benefits to all? Like, the update is about making it easier to adresse issues and create new stuff and apply it to all sites, then let's try devlopping what this community needs to have the full potential and share it with the other curse sites if they need it. Basicly kind of going reverse to the flow, instead of getting the stuff the other websites have, we create new unique stuff that the other websites would benefit.

We almost all agree on many points, I hope the mass will make it change for the better and kind of "forces" the creation of new tools/content/whatever that our specefic community want.

;] Why you think I'm workin' so hard with you guys?
Not to just see my own text :D We don't know what we need to work on until we ask and find out.
So I asked. Luckily, no one was selling tomatoes and heads lettuce - I have a sneaking suspicion some of you would have thrown them at me.
