i was wondering if someone can help me with a team colors issue, so the thing i was wondering is how it would be possible to make the team colors on this model
look more like the ones like the starcraft 2 marines have, so when i start my space marines side of my project i can make them fit in more. model can be found here
http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/dow2-units/files/18-force-commander-beta/
is it even possible with the textures i have, or what textures would i have to alter and how. also if it would help i can supply the original unaltered textures.
sweet thanks!!!!!! i think im going to put my project on hold for a while witch will suck but for the greater good. till i learn how to competently do this texture thing my self using your examples
also thanks again.
nice!!!!!!! that's a lot better. how did you do that, and how would i be able to replicate that ?
edit. aslo there is these, but there the only dds files in there own respective file (ex hormagaunt_armour_rare )
along with the corisponding model file so im taking it there just alt skins
also i have every thing set to use RGBA is thats probably causing a problem?
also how should i have this part set us is it fine to just leave on secular or emissive? or was i supposed to have something other then hit test checked?
sorry if you dont mind my bugging you
ok so we will use my hormagaunt as an example, this is how i have it set up in 3ds max.
and also these are the original texture files exported from the game its self not the ones 3ds max made for me.
and lastly in the statecraft 2 art tools plugin i checked make dds files when i was done and uploaded those along with my model. should i just of used the originals?
you mean legal actions on me for using a 3d program for saving them in a format that starcraft can use? or uploading them so mapmakers can use them for there own personal content. or if i was to personally upload them to the arcade because i dont plan on uploading anything to battle net also i sate they are not for battle net use or content one my page
so if i was to fix the alpha in the diffuse textures would that work?. also the diffuse is gray on all textures in down of war, in any place you can change the color ingame, in the army painter or what ever its called. dow actually uses another texture on top of the diffuse textures to change the colors in game, that are painted red and blue in color changing spots. ill show an example with original file names. and sorry im new to this and how textures work so i didnt know i had do anything to the alpha maps also that would probably be a step i skipped in 3ds max when i was applying the textures right?
Sadly im only currently doing dow2 models. And sisters of battle are dow 40k soul storm models if thats what you where hinting at with your dawn of war units link lol. but maybe once i go through the full dow2 roster ill circle back and figure how to do dow 40k
also im not sure if zenyatta is a good example since its a blizzard owned character, but your right it is from another game. so ya maybe ill upload them once i get the texture work done.
lol no kick starter, these are literally just ported over from the dawn of war 2 game. im just the middle man in 3ds max, the only thing i need is some one to work on the textures for me.
also i would upload the units here for everyone to use, but im new to this site and im sure that would be breaking some site rules since there assets from another game.
please inform me if im wrong on that tho
so iv been teaching my self how to use 3ds max, and started exporting Dawn of war 2 models into it to see if i can import them in to sc2.
and let me tell you, that was a bitch at first, but im pretty sure i have a good hang of it now. i still got some stuff to learn with small technical things like if i wanted to add attachment points, partical effects and stuff like that, but bottom line is models work in game and animations to, so thats a good start. lol
so heres the thing, to me the textures didn't turn out like i wanted them, as they dont look as good as they do in there respective game. but im sure thats because these are the base textures with out dow2 team color textures added ontop, since the two games handle those textures differently. anyways what im looking for is some one skilled in textures to give me a hand here add some team colors and generally make the units look more badass, since i have no skills in that area, and so i can concentrate my efforts in into bringing in the rest of the units in to sc2.
