I'm trying to make this picture into a terran passive button showing that the unit is out of energy, so I'm trying to make the white lines appear glow-ish green like the other terran buttons so it fits in with the whole scheme... any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm having some trouble assigning units into a unit group or creating a unit group at all. I feel like making global unit groups would be most beneficial, so I could assign units to a group in one trigger and tell them what to do in another, but am unsure how to do this.
In my map I want groups of units to patrol together, as in they stick together as a unit on their route and engage enemies together too. It's easy to set a patrol command, but as time passes the units tend to thin out along the line due to basic entropy and the clipping sizes of the units. Any idea how to fix this?
I could put in a wait command so they all bunch back up at each "point" along the patrol route, before moving on, but then they are taking long breaks instead of marching around.
Still having issues of the ability being "auto-researched," that is, it spends my skill point automatically on my custom ability and then puts it for use on the main command card. I tried changing the names of the ability itself, the "learn" type ability and each of the ability's effects to random nonsense, but it didn't seem to help...
hey ZR, could you please go over what the effect types "Create persistent" and "Enumerate area" do? Specifically, I see them used in the weapon of the firebat and am unsure how they make the weapon function the way it does. Also maybe an example of how they are used elsewhere would be helpful.
So as it stands, the firebat deals damage to an unlimited # of targets that fall under his flame. How do I set a cap so as to say he only simultaneously damages 2 enemies? I tried editing the Search: Maximum Count under the effects tab, but that doesn't seem to do the trick...

Made a cool new ability that doesn't seem to have a fitting command card button? This is how you can put whatever picture your heart desires in one of the pressable squares in the bottom right corner of the UI. This tutorial uses Photoshop, the easiest program I find to make the required .dds file type for the icons. Don't worry, if you aren't a Photoshop pro, the things you have to do are pretty straightforward.
76 pixel x 76 pixel picture of whatever you want your custom ability represented by
1. Install Photoshop then the NVIDIA plugin
2. Open your picture with photoshop (background preferably black if you want it to match other SC buttons, which you will)
3. Resize and center your picture so as to leave a 4-pixel-wide border around the edge of the frame. Making a frame this exact in size is easiest done by zooming way in until the individual pixels are visible.
4. Highlight everything EXCEPT the 4-pixel border.
5. Under the Select tab, choose Save Selection.
6. Press OK on the next dialog box.
7. Click the CHANNELS tab (right next to the LAYERS tab which by default is on the right).
8. Click "Save As" and under Form choose .D3D/DDS (if you installed the NVIDIA plugin incorrectly, .dds won't appear).
9. On the NVIDIA save screen, choose DXT5 from the dropdown menu at the top then click Save.
10. Go into your Galaxy Editor and go to the import menu (F9 from terrain layer).
11. Import your new file. Note that everything is checked by default, uncheck everything but your .dds picture. Click Save.
12. Go to the buttons tab in the data editor. Under the "Icon" field find the .dds file you uploaded.
13. Assign this button to a unit via the "unit" tab under the "Ability: Command Card +" field. - DONE!
Let me know if you have any questions or problems.
Lots of doodads, especially Terran ones, have moving parts, blinking lights, running liquid... is there a way to freeze the animations so they just stand still?
The doodad, castanar camera, seems to have an animated swivel from side to side when I see it in the Liberty campaign, but just sits still when I place it in my own map. Is the some flag to animate it?
The problem actually lies in making some parts of the picture file transparent to allow the Blizzard artwork to mesh with the custom uploaded art.
I literally spent 3 1/2 hours working on this and finally found a fix. I'm using photoshop with the Nvidia .dds file creation addon. I will write a tutorial on it as soon as I get home!

I must be a total idiot because I'm not able to find "Action Definitions" either. I'm staring at the trigger editor... where do I go from here?

Yikes you just went a little deep for me. Where is the "create thread" option?

Is this possible?
