Yes, all doodads are coming, however the number of models which have been updated with HD versions is limited to a few units, such as the hero units, some other assorted units, the human towers, and a few other structures.
Considering how Hearthstone has only been out for around 9 months and has already received 153 new cards, I would not worry too much about the relatively low card count. It will increase with time. It seems far too early to judge it for such an issue.
The grid-like lines on the staff's texture look a bit dark to me. The contrast between them and the brown of the rest of the staff just seems a little too harsh. Other than that, it's looking great.
I quite like the style you have going there. Painting some rocky textures around the bases of the rocks could help the look, I think. As it stands, there is too harsh of a contrast between the grey-brown rocks and the pinkish sand. Also, perhaps a different cliff model whose color is more similar to that of the rock models you are using could improve the look.
Sounds like a really cool idea. I'd be quite interested to see how it all turns out, especially given all the new terrains we've had since HotS launched.
Had every WTE taken one week (with the exception of the contest), we would be on WTE #211 by now. That's about an 84% rate of getting the next one out on time.
Starcraft II already runs poorly on many people's computers. This would only make it even worse, and I doubt they'd make such deep engine changes, as they would probably require a lot of work.

You could simply use doodads for walls, rather than cliffs.

Cool photos? Sure. Is the StarCraft 2 engine capable of these kinds of settings? Unfortunately, no.

I believe the project was renamed to Aeon of Storms.

Now that would be cool for those of us who can't attend.

Alas, I've been very busy lately. No time for the WTEs. :(

Would this not belong under team recruitment?

Play around with the fog start and fog end parameters.
