posted a message on While a key is pressed

    Hey all!

I'm currently creating a Search & Destroy map. In this map, players will be able to plant explosives or defuse them with 'F'. But I'd like them to keep F pressed to place it, and not only press it one time.

I have tried this way :

    EVENT : Any player presses 'F' ACTIONS : While > Conditions : Key 'F' is pressed > Do [...]

But it doesn't work and does the same if the player presses F once or if he keeps it pressed.

Any idea how I could do this? It mustn't be hard :)

This concept reminds me Kobold Tribes. It can be nice. I think your mapping is too linear. Add some relief / cliffs and other things (trees etc) to make it more realistic ;)

Seems pretty nice project. I like RPGs.

I think it will take long to make it but if it's well done it can be very addictive ;)

Well dude, forcely once you released the most played Arcade map, your other projects can only be popular too, if they are well done.

If you create a map that requires more than 6 players it will never get popular since there will be never enough players for it, except if you are somehow lucky.

Well it's true that there are way less players in summer, people have better things to do than playing SC2 while it's sunny :D

But the bad thing is that there are many nice games that are not enough played, and maps like DS are ok but they have too much players. I have already seen people who play only these games, they have never played any Starcraft ladder game. It's pretty weird and it shows that the more a map is played, the more it will be played and it sux, I don't like that system. I'd even say it "feeds the troll" in some way. You can't tell me the guy who created Desert Strike (regardless of previous DS, let's consider it's the first DS that has ever been created) needed as much time to make his map as idk, Stardrive for example, or many maps featured here, but still it's more popular.

I would have thought that nice maps like Snipers Promod would still have fans playing it but no. So I'm wondering what's the point of making a map nowadays, spending hours and hours trying to make a nice map without bugs if nobody bothers playing it :/

I start to think SC2 arcade has less players every days. Indeed, when I want to play to a map, whatever it is, even if it has more than 3000 rates, I don't find anybody (and I don't create private lobbies...).

Uberena, Snipers Promod, Team Monobattle, Pictionary etc etc... I never find any players for those maps, although they are pretty nice.

So, wtf is going on? I remember, about a year ago, anybody could create a great map and get featured, getting many rates. And if we started a lobby of a popular game, we could find players quite quickly. But now, it seems that everybody plays to DS or Probes Vs Zealots 2... This is so sad, even more when I see there are so many nice projects out there, who will maybe never get featured and fall into oblivion :(

The game will work as follow : there are 6 key buildings in the map. The Red Team spawn on the left of the map, and the Blue Team spawns on the right of the map. On first round, Red Team will have to destroy 1 building in order to win the round. If the explosives are defused, they can plant again until the round is over. So the round is over when a building is destroyed (attackers win) or when the time is over (defenders win). The other way to end the round is when all players are dead in the defenders team or in the attackers team if no bomb is planted. I will maybe add 1 respawn per round, maybe not, I'll need to do some tests if I create the map.

If you play to COD then you must know what S&D is :)

I think I will add random creatures in the "forest", I haven't really decided what they will be, maybe hostile, maybe neutral, maybe drop a powerup when they die etc...

I also think capacities like shield or blink will cost energy + minerals, and minerals will be given to a player when he kills another player, when he plants / defuses a bomb or when he wins a bet at the arena. The arena will be a little random animation between rounds, where players could bet on 2 gladiators. Those 2 gladiators will fight in the arena, and if the player bet on the winner he will be given minerals. It's pretty much like PMU but more fun :D

It will be 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3. In the case the game as an odd number of players, 1 player will be chosen to be spectator or will control special unit.

Maybe it's the wrong section for this?

Well the map itself may not be finished but here are some pictures.

I see so many nice games on arcade that are almost never played, it's so sad.

    Hey all!

After having made 2 arcade maps : The Infested Tauren and Waves Survival (http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/resources/project-workplace/49308-who-wants-to-create-a-map-with-me/), who didn't get fame at all, I'd like to launch a new project, but something that will be played and not another map that will fall into oblivion.

I've made some searches and I couldn't find any Search & Destroy project.

If you don't know what Search & Destroy is : 2 team fight and switch their roles from a round to another. 1 team, the attackers, have to place explosives on key buildings and protect it until it explodes. The other team, the defenders, have to protect the key buildings and avoid them to be destroyed.

Gaming settings can be edited (number of rounds, time to plant explosives, time to defuse etc...).

It would be like Snipers Promod. Btw Snipers Promod was famous at a time, got more than 2k reviews but now If I create a lobby almost nobody joins it, is the arcade empty nowadays??

So, tell me if you think this project can work, if you would play it and what would be your expectations ;)

    tnx
