You just have to make an inventory ability an add it to your unit. You are able to add containers to the inventory slots as well.
Depending on the complexity of what you want to do, containers can be pretty time consuming.
The first way that comes to mind would be a behavior with a periodic search effect searching for enemy units, which then applies an Ability Command effect on the source unit to cast burrow.
Looks like your selection of defensive abilities is overwhelming his offensive play more. A simple click + boom ability should be all you really need. Passives aren't always as exciting for a player to use. Perhaps look into a charge-up targetted ability with some energy leeching.
Add a permanent behavior to all of the worker units with Modification+->Resources->Harvest Amount Multiplier to 1.25 for the appropriate resource (It might only have to be .25, you'll know to change it to that if your workers are getting 125% more lumber).
Then create a Requirement that does a Count Unit for your Lumber Mill as Completed.
Change your behavior's Requirements by adding the new requirement.

Is there support for different and unique button textures/images within the tree, or do they all have to look the same?

You can use a trigger to check for terrain height. I believe it's "Height of Point".
